Can we please buff DDs' AA?

There is far too much AA in the game already. And very very few DDs that get spotted by air outside of their AA range.

Accept that you are being countered and find yourself an American friend.

On the other hand, Akizuki needs that DFAA.

This is a really touchy subject because your DD either has amazing AA or it has absolute trash AA. There's certain ships that were built to be AA escorts that never received Defensive Fire (Akizuki) and there's a few of the ships that once you upgrade to C hull (Or buy the Kidd) Have some absolute monster AA able to ruin some CV's day. 

I'm actually really frustrated that they made the defensive fire so powerful, They should have added the option but as a support to lower the accuracy and to scare away aircraft, not to obliterate them

I don't know all the math but it seems like there's a huge difference depending on tiers.  If your planes are a tier or two below my USN DD I'm going to eat them like popcorn.  If it's even tiers I'll shoot a few down but mostly you're going to be able to do what you're trying to do.  If you're a tier or two above me, I might as well not even shoot at you.

Not sure if that's the intended effect or not.

I hear there's a new Kidd on the block with good AA, maybe you should get to know him.

 

It's interesting that the CVs are complaining about DDs having too much AA lately...

#1 get a fletcher....

#2 spec for AAA all around (capt and modules)

#3 piss off CVs in game for 20 ,minutes....

#4 get Akizuki and repeat steps 2 and 3....

Just make CV planes not spot ships to teammates. Have them only show up on the minimap.

Now there is no benefit for a CV to park planes over a DD.

There's still the issue of CVs deleting DDs with impunity, but the removal of spotting sure would help.

Screw the AA now there are 15-20 torps coming at me at times. Crazy. Sea flooded with em. I know it's arcade but in some matches this is abby-normal.

Its fun taking a Sims out to farm planes or other DD, like the Nicholas at T5 with DFAA.

The solution to this is to remove fighters completely from the game, allowing every ship to fight attack squadrons either with their existing AA or in combination with team mates they are sailing with.

1. No more "parking" fighters above lone wolf ships; if a CV player wants to "perma-spot" them he will have to dedicate an attack squadron to do it, thus removing part of his strike ability. Everything must have a price.

2. It totally removes strafe as an element of the game, and goes a long way towards balancing IJN vs USN CV loadouts, as now all that would matter would be their respective strike squadrons.

3. It releases CV Captains from listening to endless whining and complaints of "HELP ME" from team mates in ships with poor AA or not using AA builds; now it's totally up to the Captain of ANY ship as to what level of AA he chooses, and live with the consequences.

4. Allow EVERY ship in the game to have DFAA and return it to it's original specifications, thus promoting AA builds.

My opinion.

Yes, because most ships in the game can do that in the right conditions.   Not many CVs can fully hit moving cruiser let alone a DD. If there is a single lone target (A reversing BB or a DD sitting in smoke.) Then yes. You are dead. The CV has caught you with your pants down.  If you want a DD with a AA, please pick the C hull american destroyers. You'll have to sacrifice a gun but you'll gain defensive AA, which is currently a 4x multiplier. My kidd rips through tier 10 aircraft when defensive fire is turned on.

This is what i would hope for. In fact i think it's the most fair suggestion I've seen. Granted i do play DD more, but i do like my Kaga too.

Plane being shot down =/= spotted DD

Plane shot down = Annoyance for the CV, and a bit of a hit for that team (down but not out, unless it was the last one ...been there too, yay for being a paper weight)
Spotted DD has the life expectancy of about 30-45 seconds, 60 if you are good at dodging multiple enemies fire, but eventually if you stay "detected" long enough you're gonna get popped, it don't take much.
