Smart strategy or sneaky play

Was just in a battle (Clemson) when one of my teammates was taunting the red team trying to get them to pop smoke prematurely.  I remembered a player many games ago who would lay out a smoke screen below an island and then use it to sneak around behind the island to surprise the red team from behind as they concentrated on the smoke .

I just used that same,  old trick again in a battle.  It worked.  Not sure how I feel about it.  Smart play or just torturing the newbies?

Failure is a convincing teacher.  As long as it keeps working, it may single out only those who are unwilling to learn.

Always do your best of course, but don't think less of the newbies for losing.  We were all there once.

I'd say good strategy. It worked the way you had planned it. I have fallen for it before and I sure watch out for it now.

I still fire torps into the smoke but never expect for them to still be there.

Ive seen this in action at around t7 a DD used their smoke to fool the CV's squadrons just to evade detection.

Using a PA with an extra smoke (seemingly nearly endless) on the tier V-VII map shards or desert something (I forget) but there is a gap between two islands in which I often will speed boost in, hit smoke, turn 180 and promptly exit only to then go around the island and catch everyone torping and firing at my smoke.   Ah the surprise!  Often if just one DD, they will bolt thinking they are being focused by 2 dds.    However, I'll keep a few other tricks to myself, sorry.  ;-)
