Caught Up In The Fight (Pearl Harbor)

A parody of "Blinded By The Light" by Bruce Springsteen, as sung by Manfred Mann

Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

Madmen, hawks, and lovers
Just past Indian Summer, in talks with the diplomats
A president with the mumps, as the senate all jumps, every man then wore a hat
With a patch upon his shoulder, feelin' kinda older, he'd joined the merry-go-round
But with this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin', the neutrality crashed to the ground

The neutrality crashed to the ground!

Then he was...
Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

His drill sergeant told him, "Now listen here, mister, I know that you got what it takes"
He said "I'll make you a runner, 'cause you're fast and strong, to headquarters the messages take"
Like a go-cart Mozart he'd carry out the weather charts so they could see if it was safe to fly
Then at the Harbor, early Sunday, a plane strafed him in a fury and he wonderd if he was going to die

Wondered if he was going to die!

And he was...
Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light
Caught up in the fight

He drew his gun and the plane's bullets all missed
He's gonna make it through the fight
He's gonna make it through the fight

[Bridge]

But mama, that's where the plane is
But mama, that's where the plane is
Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun
But mama, that's where the plane is

With a roar like a cyclone the plane rolled and came back down, preparing to strafe again
He thought, "Sight low, plane's in a turn, it's slow
Hit it in its rudder now, that's where he'll expect it least"
And a grade-school chaperone
Was standin' in the corner, watching the warriors dance
Her flowers fresh-sown in neat rows
She was frozen, in a combat zone, but in her heart was a feeling of romance

The Zero then crashed to the ground!

And she was...
Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

[The following two sections are sung simultaneously]

(Madmen, hawks, and lovers
Just past Indian Summer, in talks with the diplomats)
Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

(A president with the mumps, as the senate all jumps, every man then wore a hat)
Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

(With a patch upon his shoulder, feelin' kinda older, he'd joined the merry-go-round)
Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

(But with this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin', the neutrality crashed to the ground)
Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

(With no more than a slingshot his bullets found a tender spot and threw that warplane in the sand)
Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

(And with eyes bloodshot she called "forget-me-not" then ran to call all the children within earshot to come to her and take cover as was planned)
Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

(Some years later, he was visiting his sister when a lady called "Hey GI, you still got what it takes?")
Caught up in the fight
Revoked was the truce
Bombs dropped in the morning light

(She said "I never gave up, knew I'd see you again")
Caught up in the fight
("It's been so long")

She got down but she never got tired
She's gonna marry him tonight

Very well done on that one...haven't heard that song in too long.

Edit...+1 farming attempt...successful.
