So this has happend many a time to me when I play a DD. Put myself DEEP behind the enemy spotting for you all and you SHOOT the enemy closest to me. wth?  This causes them to go into panic mode and pop Hydro, Radar, spotter planes ect to find ME. Leave the closest target to the DD spotting the hell alone unless asked for. Your shooting yourselves in the HEAD with a 12 gauge shotgun when you do this. First you loose your spotter and all the potential damage he could have done and you loose the damage you could have done from his spotting for you.

If you start shooting at the target closest to the DD you WILL get him spotted. STOP DOING IT!!!

You're doing it wrong if you're within radar spotting distance. This advice from a friendly Shima captain.

If you're within hydro detection range, then you're just WAY too close....

I'm just gonna leave it at you're being very dramatic about it. People shoot at targets of opportunity, accept it and act accordingly? I honestly don't know what to tell you. When you're rolling in Randoms people usually don't grasp all the nuances of the game. You have to play for yourself unless the team communicates that they're willing to coordinate. It's all I've got for you. Wish you the best of luck out there, I've had a fair share of games today where the potatoes were too heavy to carry.

One thing to look at is where BBs are or if they are having to wildly evade enemy Torpedo attacks.

Because unless I am otherwise occupied with a nearby enemy or torpedoes I gladly fire at targets my team's DDs are being nice enough to spot for me...

Not sure how your teammates are supposed to be thinking about their own positioning, identifying targets to shoot at, and do the math on the distances between all of the lit targets and your location (to see who is closest to you and if you are in their hydro/radar detection range) simultaneously before they fire.

You also might want to keep in mind that when driving a BB, shooting at a lit DD is always high priority, as well.

Hey

With regards to BB's.  I see WAY TOO MUCH camping these days and people sitting back trying to snipe other ships and then 1/2 way through the game, it was the DD's and the cruisers that took the brunt of the punishment; you get killed and the first thing you notice, look at all of the full health or nearly full health BB's there are.  Now your DD's are dead, cruisers nearly so and now you have no way to counter the enemy and they have the caps.  It's getting worse, I'm even seeing cruisers who don't support DD's simply because BB drivers don't want to push up as team and support the cruisers.  And it gets much worse at higher tiers, rarely do BB's get much out of spawn or worse is when a BB will go from his spawn side of the map all the way to the other side, leaving your sides flank now exposed.  I don't why people can't support the side your on unless the side is significantly weaker.  There is a lot less team play today than a year ago and it's amazing to see how many caps are thrown away simply because people don't play the objective and would rather try to farm damage instead of winning.

It's almost like ships should form fleets in the game... I'm new and don't know about everyone's stealth detection capabilities or their ranges or your stealth capabilities. I played a few tier 5 games and got deleted by torps from a boat I never saw. It's always good when someone spots enemies because I can't see more than like 11 km and my sniping capacity is useless otherwise. I just assumed that targets near you already see you. I will stop doing that. I'm more worried about enemy ships shooting at me than shooting at you. The more I play this game, the less I like it. K, going home to play now. I will harass cruisers so you can sink battleships so I can cap stuff....

You might see it as camping but I have learned to stay hidden as much as possible. I would early on go into the mix of the battle only to die so fast cause I was the main target. Live with the fact  that BB's are in the back. I have a Roma and what I have to do is sit bow to enemy and go forward and reverse while firing keeping MY acquisition range out of their site when I can. I get spotted and holy hell breaks loose on me. So yes I will "camp" when I have to.

Hey

Sounds like to me; you have decided to be a BB camper instead of actively supporting those on your team that are doing the majority of the work.  Bow in camping is a very inflexible play style that severely limits your options to disengage, relocate or assist other when needed, not to mention opens yourself up to carrier torp planes, and I hope you keep playing that way when I'm in my DD.  Whatever works for you, but it does little to be an asset to the team overall day in, day out.  just my opinion.

If you are in a DD and is within hydro range, then you are within torpedo range.  You should be having a field day torpedo the guy with the hydro.  I mean even the Russian torpedoes are almost in range. Hell, at that range, if the other guy is spooked by your BB fire, you might as well turn on your engine boost and do point blank torpedo run.

As to the other guy with radar, chances are if they have the skill that tells them if they are being targeted, and if they don't see anyone else around, good chance they will pop radar.  Between Atlanta and Belfast, you are never going to have a good day in a DD.

If you want to help yourself, then start by in team chat, requesting concentrating fire on whoever you think is more immediate dangerous to you.  You may not always get support, but some of us will help when able.

Opinions are like [edited], everyone has one. Obviously you don't have a Roma. You cannot show your port or starboard, that is why you go bow to battle.

I can be stealthy and contribute to team play. How would you play using a Roma? Just curious.

Hey

Admittedly I don't have the Roma but I do play a lot of BB's, cruisers and working on destroyers and yet cruisers have an easier time taking damage than BB's; but I still support the DD's whenever possible, I use my range to my advantage and select ammo type depending on what I am up against.  i may use HE to burn a BB or AP on any broadside ship.  Since I quite often run German I will use Hydro to help anyone I am running with or in support of, same with my fighter.  Sooner or later you will have to tank damage, and when I run my BB's , I'm not afraid to brawl it or try to bully another ship if it means we get a cap or defend a cap.  Let's face it; the Roma is somewhat weak on the side but use that great concealment to sneak to within striking range of a cruiser or work at picking off hurting BB's, you got the fire power to get the job done, you have the speed to reposition from one area to another, team up in game with a cruiser or another BB if you feel more confident.  I play a lot of division because I know that I can count on my partner more than I can count on random players, especially these days.  We all make mistakes and get deleted at times, not everyone gets a 100K damage every game but always play the objective, be they caps or killing the enemy.  Always, always support a team member who needs helps unless there just is no way to help them (one ship dying is better than 2 ships dying).  Play a style that allows you flexibility during the game; bow in only allows forward or backwards and usually at very slow speed, nothing side to side.  Watch the mini map, your better to extract yourself early and live than to get caught stationary, where your open to torpedo's from DD's, carrier planes or you position gets over run by enemy ships.  Your right about opinions, but learn from players who are better than you, constantly learn new tactics, new approaches, maybe even change your ship setup if needed.

Yea...as a BB player I have opted for the fun way....I like up close and personal...special trained for secondary fire going in guns blazing...I see so many are used to sitting way back many times I find myself alone with dds and cruisers 10 miles behind me while I head into caps....by then its too late...for me...I'm being beaten to death by every enemy camper in sight...where what should be happening is I believe....bum rushing an objective with a dd  and cruisers to off set the attack while I take the brunt using me as a shield even if possible ....ONE time in clan battle did I see an entire enemy time come into range with all ships attacking at once, in force, we were obliterated because of the old...you go here ill go here etc instead of attacking in force....Blitzkrieg....its was a beautiful thing to see and watch as I sunk down to Davy Jones locker.....tear falls...sniff.
