US CV line reorganization

If we go by historical dates then the classes should be as follows

Tier -10 Midway Class/Tier 9- Essex Class/Tier-8-Wasp Class/Tier 7-Yorktown Class/Tier 6-Ranger Class/Tier 5-Lexignton Class/Tier 4-Langley Class

The only change needed is to push the Ranger to Tier 6 and Lexington to Tier 7 by adding the Wasp Class (I seriously believe the developers don't even know this class exists) to Tier 8 which was then followed by the Essex class. This removes at least 1 escort Carrier class from the US cv line either the Bouge or Independence can go..

There is zero reasons to have 3 US Escort carrier classes in the game, Bouge, Inpendence and Saipan..2 will do

The Japanese line is almost all fleet carriers except for the Shoho.

ignore the top half cause i messed that up..but hey i was at work...heres what i should have wrote

if I go by date of launch then this wont work because there were some weird things going battle cruiser conversions and straight up and treaty tonnage stuff..

Now the order is correct...

Tier -10 Midway Class/Tier 9- Essex Class/Tier 8-Yorktown Class/Tier 7-Lexignton Class/Tier-6-Wasp Class/Tier 5-Ranger Class/Tier 4-Langley Class.......

of course one could argue for a Independence Class or Bouge and maybe dump the Ranger or just expand CV play to Tier 3

As for the Japanese..

Tier 10--Hakuryu Class/Tier 9 Taiho Class/Tier 8 Shokaku Class/Tier 7 Hiryu Class/Tier 6 Kaga Class-Soryu Class/Tier 5 Akagi Class

Put in Ryujo Class-Zuiho Class at Tier 4 and expand CV play to Tier 3 and include the Hosho

Do you know anything about USN CVs?  Wasp was a compromised design with less capability than a Yorktown, built with left-over treaty tonnage.  Lexington was far more useful than the crummy ranger.  Independence and Saipan are not escort carriers, they are light fleet carriers.

I should know better than replying to you, but I just couldn't let this amount of wrong pass.

Historical dates only apply in so much as they roughly correlate to the different aspects used to balance the ships.

He's talking about the second Wasp, CV-18 (at least I hope he is, or his argument has no merit what so ever)

Would make more sense for Yorktown class to be t8;  Lexington could move to t7; ranger to t6 and dump independence

Better idea dump Langley. Give Hosho and Zuiho updated planes

No, he said historical order.  CV7 came before CV9.  CV-18 was a straight up Essex class ship.

Wow, then he's way off base; Wasp was a one off that the Navy didn't even want to reproduce when it was crying for CV's, which is why she spent most of her career in the Atlantic. I think she was sunk during the Guadalcanal campaign, her first Pacific deployment?

Yep, exactly.  Like I said, I know better than to reply to this OP, but bait was quality and I went at it like a speckled trout at a fly.

Well, it isn't like WoW didn't screw up the CV lines anyway, so Wasp COULD have been included. Compared to Bogue and Independence she must look pretty good, and compared to what they've done to Graf Zeppelin ... well, Wasp could have been included.

(I've always thought WoW put carriers in one tier too early, and that they should have started at tier 5. Then it could have gone Langley at 5; Ranger at 6; Wasp at 7; Yorktown at 8, Enterprise at 9; and Essex at 10.)
