Thank you Pan Asian DDs

So lately I have been trying out Japanese DDs. Not quite what I'm used to with the slow main gun reload, but hey, I have gotten more devastating strike medals in the Jap DD line than in all the other nations and lines combined.

So I want to thank all the Pan Asian DD captains for trying to torp me.

It is real generous for you to get two kilometers away from me while your deepwater torps flow right under me so I can rip you in half with my working torps.

I mean seriously, a lot of people act like deepwater torps can hit other DDs when they cannot. Check your facts plz.

absulotely like to see PA DD especially when I am using the Akizuki.

Not having to worry about incoming torp and have your all guns blazing at them is just pure joy.

Too many seem to forget their torps don't work on DDs. I get a chuckle every time...

Agree. I kill more ships with guns than torps in PA DDs. Some DDs just insisted charging my Chung Mu and YueYang with the same thinking as OP. No I am not going to torp you. But I will still rekt you with my Fletcher and Gearing guns.

And people seems to think T4 ShenYang is just another Minekaze and completely ignore her guns while trying to broadside to her to torp. She can't torp you doesn't mean you have to torp her. Geez.

Like every other dd line, it takes some time to learn the strengths and weaknesses.  I recently started playing the Pan Asian dds (full disclosure I also play the USN, IJN, and German lines at Tier IV-VI).

My Phra Ruang has SI as a captain's skill plus I run Smoker Generator II.  I watch for the tasty cruisers and BBs to send my torps out to, but I can be in smoke for the whole game if I want to.  I've chewed up many a dd that way.

Wanted to update the group.  XX_Emeraldking_XX and I met in-game, and I used my Pan Asian dd as gunboat cover to his Iso.  I also used my Clemson to contest the CAP while he nailed a big, juicy BB.

He used his bad-a** Scharny to shepherd me through my first Random fight in my Farragut.  Moral of the story, try teaming up with your fellow posters.  It's a lot of fun.

BTW - the Isokaze/PR is a pretty effective division.  Pan Asian smoke and guns with an Iso nearby and undetected to torp the unsuspecting dd driver who's not afraid of the deepwater torps.

On the rare occasions I take my PA DD's into Random, I have been tempted to toss a launcher's worth of DWT in the direction of an enemy destroyer, for panic purposes. I know better than to try it in Co-op, though. (I have had Pan-Asian bots try to torp ME, perhaps in the hope that it will panic the human.)

I will confess, on one occasion, to issuing a torpedo warning to a friendly destroyer while sailing in a Pan-Asian ship. Realised what I had done and apologised for the unnecessary warning, but better safe than sorry. 

Right now, one of the reasons I am playing the Pan-Asians is to force myself to learn to shoot at destroyers better.

Pan Asian DD problem.  My Lo Yang, acquired in a Santa Box, has no headphone icon at the bottom of the screen for hydro.

Do I have something set up wrong?

Don't always assume they forget the DW torps can't hurt you. I've fired them at other dd's simply as a distracting measure. A large portion of the player base will not realize these torps can't hurt them and will focus on dodging them anyway giving me an advantage.

@XX_Emeraldking_XX, I see you have up through T4 IJN DDs.  Enjoy the torp fun while it lasts.

Starting at T5, and going rapidly downhill from there, your torp hit rate will drop significantly, and you'll be finding that you actually probably invert that "fun" experience, unfortunately.

While IJN torpedoes continue to enjoy massive damage, the continual nerfs WG has made to the T5+ IJN DDs makes them a completely different experience than the <T4 ones.

Honestly, they can still be fun (I still run mine heavily).  But you have to be aware that they become increasingly inconsistent in their performance from game to game - it's "feast or famine", and it's "famine" most of the time.  A really successful IJN DD game really starts to rely not on your own skill so much as the incompetence of your opponents.   Being a high-tier IJN DD player requires nerves of steel and a VERY high tolerance for frustration, and an understanding that you're WG's favorite whipping boy for being crapped on at every opportunity.

 

One word of advice: IJN DDs at T5 and up are virtually unplayable without the Tier 4 captain skill Concealment Expert. Which means you MUST have a 10-point captain waiting to be used in them as soon as you unlock one.

I find higher tier PADD to be quite strong.  khab is about the only DD that i fear in PADD   and I can usually avoid them  :D

W-what? Having fun playing as actual teammates? What madness is this? :) Isokaze/PR does sound effective.

This, altho not so much 'panic.' But if I'm in a Pan-Asian DD and I'm dueling another DD or two, and I don't anticipate having a better target for my torps before they can reload, I will often launch torps. I know they can't hit the DD I launched them at, but you'd be amazed how many opposing DDs will forget that I can't torp them and start focusing on evasion rather than accurately shooting at me. Even if it's just a split second reaction, that second can matter in a knife fight.

Just an FYI the premium t8 LoYang does not have dwt. I found out when I unloaded on a ca and a dd tried to charge me but he caught to non dwt

You can trade out speed boost or smoke for hydro. Don’t remember which on

Your Welcome because I love when everyone thinks it's Pan Asian and has deepwater and I'm in my Anshan or Loyang that has regular torps but in the PA line

I often forgot Pan Asia DD have DWT mainly because they are just USN DD with DWT so when I see a Chung Mu, I think of Fletcher first. Then I rush them with my Akizuki and melt them.

So out of 18 unique ships, 2 of them stand a good chance of winning. And those two are the divergent gunboat and the OP removed premium. And the OP premium only stands that chance with a better captain.
