The ship just can't last long or shoot accurately. After 47 battles, I got 64% WR 1087 average XP. Maximum kill is only 2!!! 1.44 destruction ratio. So the numbers look okay.... Just keep playing with it, you should get it eventually. If not just move on it is really your choice to stick with it or not (if this sounds condescending that is not my intent). 6,103 [KNMSU] Battlecruiser_Siegfried Members 7,086 posts Report post #5 Posted January 29, 2018 (edited) I don't play my British battleships anymore largely because slinging HE is ridiculously unsatisfying. I play a BB because I want to do BB things - pop cruisers in single-salvos, or citadel Colorados through the bow... not loiter around in the back and toss hand grenades. It doesn't matter to me that it's effective - I want gratification. Edited January 29, 2018 by Battlecruiser_NewZealand

483 [KRAB] MaxL_1023 Members 949 posts 7,418 battles Report post #7 Posted January 29, 2018 The problem is low-impact damage. It can't tank reliably due to the 25mm hull+deck being overmatched and HE-spammed, it has low effective DPS since the back turret has an atrocious firing angle, and the AP is GARBAGE at any range beyond 10km. You are stuck doing healable fire damage to BBs, often end up shooting HE at cruisers since you had it loaded, and even when you do use AP you end up only using 6 guns unless you want to take more damage back than you deal out. The Monarch gets a bit better as it has a slightly higher forward firepower fraction, 15 inch guns which can overmatch tier 6 and 7 ships, and a 32mm hull+deck which stops most AP. It is still not great, but it uptiers a bit better. Lion can tank because of the superheal, and gets much better HE shells. The AP is also serviceable, although the dispersion is rather bad. The low-impact damage problem is now offset by volume of fire (literally) - you can burn down a BB 100-0 faster than most AP shooters at ranges where they have trouble responding, but waste shells anyway (think ~15km). The worst thing about the entire line is the back-turret firing angle - when I get the Conqueror I will check that out. I think it solves most of the issues of the lower-tier ships, with the only real weakness being the vulnerability to standard 203mm HE shells. I suspect 50% of all shells fired in a tier 8-10 match are some form of 203mm HE.

The KGV is one of those ships that you don't think perform well when playing it, but tends to perform well overall. One factor is DPM. At first glance you see it shoots 14 inchers where other ships in T7 are shooting 15 or 16 inches. But, there are several subtle factors about those guns. First off, they shoot faster. Second, there are more of them. Third, they have great HE! This all adds up to a Damage Per Minute (DPM) better than any other T7 BB. Oh, and I think there is something about the AP too. I shoot AP a lot in the KGV and the DoY...and I have very good games when doing so. But if the situation calls for HE, it's got the best in tier. And that belt armor is fine too, if you can find the right angle. So the KGV (and to a lesser degree, the DoY) is a very nice T7 BB. 55 [BTH] LukeV Beta Testers, In AlfaTesters 202 posts 5,612 battles Report post #9 Posted January 30, 2018 The only way I could really make them work is to play near max range at the beginning of game so you have a chance of dodging fire, and going stealth when you need to. Playing as almost a 2nd-wave BB/cruiser. People play BB's to tank and brawl, which this ship can't. It ain't for everyone.
