Anyone ever analyze player pop by day of week?

Has anyone ever run an analysis on when the population is heavier/lighter on statistically bad/average/good/great players?

This is just kind of a feel thing that I've noticed, but I seem to get focused/obliterated and subsequently lose more on Tues/Wed/Thurs night and do more winning/carrying when I can jump on during daytime hours on my days off. I've only been playing 2 weeks so it's a tiny sample size, but I was curious if player pop has ever been analyzed in this way.

Tactics that get me pretty high output games at some times work about 70% less (guesstimate) on Tues-Thurs evening. Is that just a coincidence?

I haven't seen or done myself any statistical analysis, but I feel like on weekdays I can do pretty well in PvP, but on weekends, I die quick.

Daytime, yes. Are you still doing well weekday evenings?  I've never checked anybody else's stats or number of total battles so I'm ignorant of your achieved levels of skill/experience.

I do alright and better than on weekends. I haven't noticed a huge difference weekday to weeknight as I play at various times. I'm also a 90/10 PvE/PvP player, so my sample size is small. I have 3,835 PvE battles to 490 PvP battles.

Someone actually has done this analysis. I can't remember who it was but it was a couple of months back. I'll look back through some stuff, I may have kept that post.

I am interested as well. I have often thought this for ranked. It seems I win more in ranked during the week and worse on the weekend, however, it does feel as if there are certain times on the weekend where I can do really well in ranked. I find mostly during the day, maybe like 11 am to 3 or 4 pm EST. I haven't really paid enough attention to lock it down, mostly just a feeling.

Population and timing affecting play is as irrational as thinking the guy at the blackjack table acting before you and making bad decisions affects your own odds. Or the classic irrational thought that if you get tails ten times in a row, you have a higher probability of getting heads on the eleventh flip.

The enemy team has the same chance of getting the same players. So if more tomatoes play on the weekend or during months off from school, it doesn't matter. Over large enough of a sample size (thousands of games played), it all evens out.

Quality of play or style can shift slightly if there is a massive population shift say between school year and summer break but those changes are hardly noticeable. When we lose matches, it's human nature to look for external explanations as a coping mechanism. So if you find yourself getting focused down more on one day than another, it's because of a series of decisions you made that extended yourself a little too much over a couple games than anything related to population mechanics.

When there are less players on WoWs, there seems to be higher traffic on Pornhub...

Probably explains the afks. Some people have a hard time finishing before battle start. Some guys need to stop lighting candles and stuff to set the mood and just get right into it.

I kind of agree, but at the same disagree. I think what the OP is wondering, are there certain times of day / week when better players will be on. I actually think there is probably some merit to this question. When you think about the kind of person who can afford to be playing WOW's at certain times of day, does that person who say can't play during the week but plays on the weekend, are they high skill or low skill?

Certainly if you are intending to blame time of day on a loss sounds unreasonable, except if you had information that factually shows, yes, at certain times of day / week the better players are playing.

That is my thinking even though I have not marked down wins and losses over time. Evidently, from my experience, I am the potato on weekends that the good players don't like. :Smile_child::Smile_teethhappy:

My impression (not based on real data) is:

  • During weekdays, team play tends to be better
  • During weekdays, battle results tend to be closer
  • During the weekends, team quality tends to be much more random resulting in more lopsided battles
  • During the weekends it is much harder for me to carry and my WR is lower

I routinely play from 4-5 in the afternoon before I head home from work, but if I play later in the evening again it's like playing an entirely different game. This holds especially true on the weekends.

Weekday early morning and evenings: teams more agrressive

Weekday 9am to 6pm: teams very passive

Weekends: more afks and pinks. Run /w divisions only

Getting better, cause I keep track of IJN DD's stats. The average performance of IJN DDs, at least, have improved significantly.

In game, many players definitely are learning tricks from a similar source, which makes them super predictable and is a lawler when blind torping them.

That's what happens when you screw up your key mappings.
