What to do when stuck in a bad funk?

I cannot seem to get out of this "bad luck" funk I've been in for months lately. Doesn't matter who I div with as my "luck" just transfers to them to where I am now considered cursed.

Any ideas on what I can do or should I just give up the game I am addicted to & uninstall?

Months of poor performances isn't a case of bad luck. I would suggest switching over to some ships that are outside of your normal play rotation, either an entirely different class or something with a different play style. Do something that will affect the way that you play, and may break you of some bad habits that you didn't know that you had picked up. Personally, I usually switch over to cruisers if I start having days of battleship futility, and that usually perks me right up. However it works out, I hope that it works out well for you :Smile_honoring:

Lots of folks had a dip in their WTR during the recent missions.  I wouldn't get too down about it.  It looks like you have a lot of your highest tier games in BB's.  Maybe you could pick a cruiser line to work on for a while or run some dd's for a change of pace?  The German cruisers were first one I took to Tier X.  Pretty tanky at higher tiers and you have the Graf Spee as a captain trainer...

Find what you like and stick to it.

Forget about trying to accomplish a specific task in a campaign. Trying to complete a specific task just leads to frustration and also bad gameplay as you are concentrating more on the task than on the team.

Go play a few Operations just for the fun of it. Try a ship that you haven't won much with. Most everyone already has max stars in the old operations so they are just playing for fun.

Go back and re-purchase a low tier ship and just have fun with it.

Make a new account (for gameplay purposes only; I believe that in the forum you must use only one name) and relive the glories of your past. I did this a few days ago and am having a hoot. I read carefully to see if this was allowed before I did it. If something has changed and it's now forbidden please let me know.

Can I have more than one account and can I play on different accounts from the same IP address?

Basically, it is perfectly fine to have more than one account and it is also not forbidden to play on a different account from the same IP address, as long as every individual plays on the account created by himself, respectively. https://eu.wargaming.net/support/kb/articles/556

Play a different game for a bit.  That's the best advise I think.

My bad luck covers myself along with the matches I get, which is why I got guys calling me cursed etc. Guys that I normally div with.

Had a first match in my Duca D' Aosta, bottom tiered using ifhe. Kept getting hits for 643. So it's either bad luck or that ship just sucks against T8.

Have had times where I got a cruiser full broadside to my bb, can't high damage it. Had a match the other day, my Scharn was shooting an Omaha, couldn't do squat even though I am shooting/aiming how I am supposed to. Can give you several replays to show what I mean.

Molotov, 14% fire chance. Fired 143 shells, 3 fires.

I can be surrounded by other BBs & still I am the one getting shot to death as if the others aren't there. My div-mate was astounded when he seen that.

As for missions/campaigns, I don't bother with them.

I am frustrated with the game & too addicted to quit for long.

When I do get a good personal match, win or lose, it's the exact same playstyle that also gets me crap matches.

I think we all have slumps, brother. I know I do, for certain. I recommend playing your Okhotnik more often. It is completely different (as your only DD) than what you play most. Give yourself a little time away from your "regular" ships, if you can. And don't give any credence to the whole "cursed" thing, brother. You are just in a slump. The laws of chance dictate that they will happen from time to time.

Respects,

Am

It's a mathematical improbability that bad luck could last forever.

Louis Pasteur said it best, "Chance favors the prepared mind."

Outcomes are affected by your decisions and while sometimes you might make good ones, chances are there are a lot of better choices available for the taking. The "wisdom" to identify them and the "ability" to execute them is why there is such a massive skill gap among the player base.

Throw in "desire" and you have the three key components that must be present consistently at a high level to prevent lengthy losing streaks.

My general rule is if I lose three games in a row, I quit playing for the day. Cause either I'm getting potato teammates all the time, or my own performance is poor. Either way, I know how it affects me emotionally and if I start losing all the time, I start thinking negatively and playing poorly as a consequence.

I went through a real bad spell, so much so that I quit the game for a few months.

When I came back it was like I was a different player, wins started to come a lot easier and my damage went through the roof.

So maybe take a break and let the fustration subside a little.

^This!

if you're in a funk in Randoms, head on over to coop or operations for some mindless fun.  And play mid-tiers.  I suggest cruisers, because in coop, BBs can often be too slow (particularly in the mid tiers) to get to the action and the cruisers end up having all the fun.

If you're getting those potato team mates, another thing you can do it to quit for a few hours and come back later with a fresh mind, and hopefully the taters have moved on.

:cap_like: When i was stuck at rank 2 for 10 hours i had a hard think that what got me this far is now not enough to go further everyone else on the team was rank 5, try another ships and another strategy, it worked.

If you are consistently dying, then give yourself an excuse. Go into co-op with the worst of the Tier II cruisers and do it gloriously and deliberately for kicks.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to take the HMS Weymouth into co-op battles and finish each and every one by ramming an enemy battleship.

Alternatively if you have access to the Mikasa, which is a reasonable facsimile of a British pre-dreadnought*, put this music on in the background** and pretend the enemy ships are Martians (if you are up against one or more St Louis, their HE spam will do wonderfully for the "heat ray"). End once more with a ramming attack. Lather, rinse, repeat.

* = she was British-designed and built, albeit to Japanese specs.

** = Listening to the first 53 seconds will get you pumped up for a YOLO rush in any ship, but when you see the on-screen image at that point, you will see why I recommended the Mikasa if you have her.

Very solid point.  Co-op is somewhere that the much maligned Prinz Eugen can really shine.  With her boosted credit earning potential, she won't cost you money and with her torpedo banks, well she can charge in slinging torps from both sides like a boss and running up massive damage numbers.  It's good, clean fun.

Consider operations, the rewards are as good or more than normal random battles, it's stress free. And best of all no stat tracking, each loss is only a win away from being forgotten.

I have given up on Random. Not worth the stress.

I took a long break (because of work) and now I just play co-op, scenarios/operations, ranked, and clan battles and having a blast.

I do that, doesn't work as you'd think.

As for dying, it's not consistent, but when I do, it's because I pushed to far.

I went out in Molotov & Duca D' Aosta. Molly doesn't start fires as easily as you'd think.

Well, nothing has changed even when using cruisers only & a new div mate. Just more & more crap, even when top tiered.

So I have wiped the drive wows was on & give up. No matter who I div with or what I try, nothing works. So I am finally finished with wows.
