WG seriously, tunes down the smoke effect at least 75% You cost me the Kraken and double strike here
The plan was kill the Alabama and ram the FDG. But look at your smoke effect! I l litterally COULD NOT see a damn thing when my guns about to line up on Alabama. When I did see him, the opportunity was lost because my guns couldn't turn fast enough. I only got the FDG and High Caliber as a result!
Visual effect SHOULD NOT affect gameplay in a negative way.

Or you could select the reduce fire effect which can be found in your settings....

I know it's arcade but I like realism.  I got no issue.....ships catch on fire and also blow up and all kinds of crap IRL causing smoke and visual issues for other ships.  Happened to Prince of Wales when Hood blew up in front of her. So many suggestions here are aimed at making things easier. Sorry it cost you a Kraken OP.

fire and flooding should be removed for battleships ffs.

Because, you know, it's not like battleships can flood or get set on fire or anything. Right?

It's hard to take any complaints seriously from a person who hides his stats.

I will also add that this is someone who wanted Yamato's hp tripled and Gearing's hp cut by two thirds. No, really. Go read some of the threads he's created.

Yamato hp is too low compared to the flooding damage and fire damage it takes. triple hp should be the lower bound for its buff.

Have you tried the amazing advanced technique of turning and changing your speed every few seconds? You know how many torpedoes you have to fire just to hit one good battleship? I remember in my Nagato I probably had five or six salvoes from a Shiratsuyu launched at me before any hit. Remember Shiratsuyu can launch up to sixteen torpedoes with ten seconds. And it wasn't some 38% potato attacking me either. Also the second sentence made literally no sense. What?

Whatever he's said in the past, this is a somewhat valid complaint...targets can easily be completely obscured by hits they're taking from other ships, the muzzle blast as they return fire, and the splashes from near-misses.  I know this has caused me to miss out on a few perfect broadsides over the months.

Of course, that somewhat valid complaint was also perfectly addressed by @Incendiary_Tanker in the first reply. :Smile_honoring:

That setting only affects the fire effect on the screen borders when set on fire. If it's enabled, you get flames, if it's disabled, you get an orange box like you see in the OP's pics.

OP: Did you consider keeping or moving your camera to deck level, right over the front guns? I'm pretty sure smoke from fires doesn't obscure the view when the camera is over-top one of the turrets. I know it doesn't obscure the view in binoc mode.

So ... what I hear you saying is that having your ship hit, and lit on fire, shouldn't affect how it performs.

No, sorry but I disagree with that.

I turned mine down with the settings. Its cool looking but does impair your visuals. Lost a few shots being unable to see through it myself.

Wait ... you can change that in the settings without affecting her new gun firing animations?? I'll need to check that out when I'm back home.

But I kinda have to agree with the OP here: Shooting at ships on fire is a miserable pain ... there's so much smoke everywhere that I can't actually see the ship under it and have a hard time aiming at it.

I admit I find myself thinking the same thing often about smoke. Many times it hides the ship I want to shoot at and I can't. However, that is one of those real life things that could happen PLUS you might be on the benefit end of that someday. It's realistic and it adds another element of challenge to the fight. Guess I side with keep it.

Just zoom in or something. You can zoom in close enough to the top of your deck guns or zoom into a scope (harder).

It doesn't take a rocket scientist either to just estimate where the enemy is through the smoke.

I'm not calling for their removal, but do have to admit smoke and water splashes do make it impossible to target certain ships sometimes. Trying to knife fight with a DD in my DD, when water splashes around the enemy DD (from green ships trying to help) completely obscure the DD from my view making it impossible to tell which way the enemy DD is turning can be annoying. Especially since they can see me just fine.

It's called realism. It's the same reason why it's hard to see things when you are in a position that has you staring into the sun on a map.
