Tales from the DogPound

Episode 1

Captains,

    Here is a tale from Captain Ghostdog, Commander Skip and Chief Butkuss.

  The three of us were inmates at a dog pound in Galveston Texas. We were runaways because we were mistreated. We got caught and were taken to dog prison. We weren't bad dogs, just mischevious. Our cells were beside each other in that hell hole. It was horrible. We would see the cute young dogs get adopted and taken home. No one wanted us.

  We fast became friends and vowed we would help each other if possible. Day after day it was miserable. And then one night the guards changed. This guy liked the three of us. Fed us good and was kind. He would talk about naval stuff and watch movies with Battleships and airplanes. One night he was watching 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. The three of us could barely see the TV. Watching Captain Nemo and how he escaped was in our head.

  Three months later we overheard a conversation from the Pound Administrator to the guards that the three of were to be put down in two days. Our guard was distraught we could tell. Time was to be at 10:00 in the morning. Put in trash bags and thrown in the dumpster. Our six months were up.

  We weren't going down that way we vowed to each other. We had numerous ideas. Attack them when they let us out in the morning, couldn't get past the fence. Run for the main gate, guarded. Looked really bad for the three of us.

  About 6:00 in the morning our guard came around. Now he usually came in at 8:00. He opened all the pens. 224 dogs total. Knelt down and told Skip, Butkuss and myself to go and fight. Scratched our heads and wished us good luck. We chewed our way through the bottoms of the fences and we all escaped. Ran like hell until were at the Port in Galveston. ..........To Be Continued

Chief Butkuss is one tough dog. Soft on the inside though. Best Chief in the fleet. Him and Commander Skip have trained many pups into worthy Sea Dogs.
