Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7

The Miami (aka "Transylvania") sailed through the portal and the world waited. Would the explorers be able to find the crystals needed to seal the rift? The world waited, and waited. Something was wrong! They had been gone far longer than planned and there had been no communication for weeks. A search and rescue team would have to be organized.

The call went out for still-functional antique ships and for veteran crews to serve them. Finally, seven ships of the right type were found, two battleships, three cruisers, and two destroyers. All had been in use on a monster movie set and had been draped in outlandish accoutrements and tagged with just as outlandish names. Because more than one actual ship represented a single ship in the movie, the two battleships were "Jackal," the three cruisers "Igor" and the two destroyers "Blade." As outlandish as these ships appeared, they were still functional warships at the core and it didn't take long to refit them with 19th-Century technology and weaponry. The seven ships then passed through the rift and out of sight.

Will our intrepid heroes be able to find the "Transylvania" and bring back Compass and her expedition? Was the Snargfargle able, using the Staff of Ages, to locate the crystals? What terrors and instruments of destruction would they have to face on the other side? Will they be able to bring back the crystals in time to complete the tower array before the nanogenes terraform Earth and change its inhabitants into prey suitable for the hordes to feast on. Will the re-built towers be able to amplify the eldritch power of the Staff of Ages so that the Snargfargle and Dr. Venture can close the interdimensional portal? Or will the armies of darkness pprevail?

Well, what say you? Will they prevail? Did they prevail? You should know. For those brave heroes manning the ships of the rescue expedition included you! How did you fare in Saving Transylvania?

Captain Ghostdog, Officers, Commander Skip, Chief Butkuss and Crew volunteered to take the BB Jackal into battle one night. Our ship, the DogPound was undergoing repairs in dry dock at the time. We had just came off of a successful raid in the North Sea.

Got a communique from Dr_Venture about midnight. Said he had a ship available for a crew and were we fit for duty. We needed to scramble immediately to assist the flotilla. Skip and Butkuss alerted the officers and all paws emptied from their kennel boxes and crates. We got down to where the ship was berthed and were amazed at it. We had never seen such a ship of this nature.

Dr_Venture and AdmiralThrawn met us there and gave us our orders which were signed by you. They read as follows "Captain Ghostdog, I hear your ship the DogPound is under repairs at the moment. Are you and your crew up to the task? You have no time for sea trials but I trust your judgement, Operational details enclosed." Dr_Venture pulled me aside and explained to me the gravity of the situation and what we would be up against. This wasn't the IJN or the Germans no sir.

We trained while underway fascinated by this new ship. Technology we had never seen. Skip and Butkuss read all manuals Dr_Venture had given us and as we rushed to catch up to the fleet we trained for two days until we were proficient in our new BB. We were a proud, trained crew ready to protect the realm.

Or so we thought. Pipi, our ensign on watch was the first to spot the green cloud. Dogs started howling and growling. We saw the towers and lightening. Ugly sky and horrific seas the which we had never seen. Ahead of us we saw our fellow Captains start firing on an unseen enemy. We kept vigilant, gripped with fear but unwavering in our duty. And then they came. Ships the like I had never seen. These weren't ships sailed by men.

These were demons. We fought hard that night. A brutal battle. We broke through with the remainders of the fleet protecting the Transylvania and got hit by torpedoes from three of the black demon ships. Hit us right amid ship and knocked out the steering. We were going down. Skip ordered an abandon ship and we all went into the water. That was about 3 in the morning. Myself and the survivors swam to the nearest island and watched as our remaining Captains escorted the Transylvania back to safety. We were picked the next day by four DDs captained Dcmkay, iDuckman, RivertheIdiot and PepperPot.

Lost 22 dogs that night and 2 officers. Lieutenant Chester (Gunnery) and Ensign Blitzz (Intelligence). Pipi went overboard and was picked up at sea. Skip spent 4 days at the vet for wounds sustained in battle. Chief Butkuss broke a back leg pulling crew members from that horrid ocean onto the island that night.

Found out later we completed our mission and received an achievement for said actions.

I don't know about Snarg but I used to short story Sci-fi novels. Never published or anything like that. Would write them for friends and family. Snarg and I talk a lot over our personal E-mails and have become pretty good friends. Guy has seen and done a lot in his life.
