Hey all, anybody interested in joining me for some historical battles in the training room? Here are some of the battles I plan on doing in the future.

The two Bismarck battles, the one vs the Hood and the Prince of Wales and the one Vs the Rodney and the King George.

Battle of Cape Matapan.

Battle of Guadalcanal

Battle of Surigao Strait

Battle off Samar

Hypothetical battle of the German Baltic Fleet vs Soviet Baltic Fleet

Hypothetical battle after Battle off Samar in which Japanese Center Force squares off against the USS Texas and the USS Pennsylvania supporting the American landing at Leyte Gulf.

Obviously they can't be perfect recreations, but I think these battles can be recreated fairly accurately with the ships currently in the game. If anyone is interested just send me a PM. Once I have a couple of players together we'll set up a schedule. I'm thinking getting together once or twice a week to do historical battles could be fun.

They tried Historical Battles in World of Tanks and it didn't go so well.  Hardly anyone participated.  Not sure how they would go here in World of Warships though.  Might be worthwhile if enough people are interested in them.  Could be fun.

And considering the bias present in that game, does that really surprise anyone?

I would love that idea but you would have to split the field into Allied and Axis teams and I think WG will not go there. I wish they would split this game into Historical and Arcade so the Historical people did not have to deal with this anime stuff.

We can do that with the training rooms though.

No, it wasn't that no one participated, it's that everyone picked King Tiger. and so the matches never loaded.

It seems to me, real-world battles were often decided less by what ships were present and more by the information, accurate or not, available to the leaders of each fleet - and that wouldn't translate well to a straight up World of Warships battle.

Since we have British, American, and British Dreadnaughts and training rooms with Open Ocean map we could do battle of Jutland including the battlelines that has been an idea I have been interested in for a long time.

Ah, okay.  Never played them that much, and when I tried, no one was around to make a game.  And someone told me that is the reason why they removed them.  My bad.

We could indeed do that. I'll add it to the list.

We would need a list of dreadnaughts that participated in Jutland to make sure we get the right ones in there though.

and we couldn't get them all in, there was like 60 of them in Jutland.

Evidently the new training room doesn't have bots that move, so everyone would need to play all sides. I know that some players have done this with the training room mod in the past. I believe that they set up the battle with rules on what ships could do what. Everyone had replays on so that the battle could be edited from various view points.

I'm in. I've done this before, we tried doing Guadacanal a while back, took a bit to get going but was good fun. I'm happy to join, just let me know.

Sadly none of the German or British BBs have their Jutland configurations.

Still we could manage to have a bit of fun with the idea at least even if it's not 100% the same.

Speaking of this I would love to see a few of the ships of Taffy-3 come to WOWS.

Well, 3/4 of the destroyers are already here as USS Johnston, USS Heermann & USS Hoel were all Fletcher class (T9) destroyers. USS Samuel B Roberts was a Butler class DE with 2 - 127mm guns and 3 torpedoes, so the US in WoWs doesn't have anything close to what it was. (T2 Smith has 3 torps, but has 5- 76mm guns.) The three carriers, USS St Lo, USS Gambier Bay and USS Kalinin Bay were all Casablanca class Escort carriers and were similar to the T5 Bogue I understand.

I believe almost all of the IJN ships were in game or have an in game equivalent that is close enough.

I was thinking more along the lines of an actual named ship like the Indianapolis.

Well, the options would be a Fletcher premium and I have heard a bunch of people request the USS Johnston. Either adding a low tier CV premium for the Casablanca class, that would be similar to the Bogue, or having a CVE split for the US. I don't see CVE's working at mid to high tier, so I'm not sure that would be a good idea with as bad as CVs are messed up now. Making a DE premium of the USS Samuel B Roberts would be nice, but it would need to be low tier, like 2 or 3 I think and not many people like those.
