Early Predictions - Pre-Order Ships

Welcome to the Logical Prediction thread.   I doubt any of these are correct but lets give it a go.  Using the Pre-Order tanks from WoT,  answers from KGB and just a heaping dollop of good, clean, LOGIC.

Speaking of which.

WoT Preorders were all tanks that used pieces of tanks currently in game.  There was little "new" modeling on them.  Given that WoWS stuff takes multiple months to do, one of my stipulations was the guesses would have to share a hull with a ship that would most likely be appearing in game.

Although it's possible we will have Engalnd and Germany, I'm not banking on it, so only USN and IJN.

1 premium from each catagorey of ship,  DD, Cruiser, BB, CV

2 for each nation

1 low tier,  2 mid tier (upper and lower) one high tier.

Be slightly odd, or unique.

That was my rules.  End result.

Low Tier Destroyer - Patrol Boat 102

Posted Image

Shared Hull -  Clemson  Class Destroyer

1680tons   26 knots

2 - 76mm

21 - 25mm****

2 - 12.7mm

2 - 6.5mm

4 - 450mm TT****

Type 22 Surface Radar,

Type 13 Air search radar.

Why - Not so much unique in play, as it is unique in appearance.  A former USN destroyer captured by the Japanese and modified.  Apart from its gimmick of being a captured USN ship, it has a few other things going for it making it viable.   AA wise, it is very strong (considering low tier)  and its slow speed is negated that most other ships in its tier are slower.  Most destroyers (including the clemsons) will outpace it however and it has potentially the poorest surface armament in game.   Its torpedoes are also not the infamous long lances.

TLDR -  Great AA,  Great Electronics,  mehhhhh everything else.

Mid Tier Battleship -  USS Lexington

Posted Image

Shared Hull - Lexington Class Aircraft carrier

Displacement 34,000tons Speed : 33.5knots

10 - 14in/50

16 - 6in/53

4 - 3in/50

8 - 21in TT

Why - Working from what KGB said about the multi-funnled version appearing in game.  There is a larger version armed with 16in/50 guns,  which are quite more potent that the 14in/50.   My guess would be that the larger version will appear in the regular tree in its vanilla and increased AA version.  More importantly this is an entirely different ship in terms of hitboxes.  Originally to achieve its great speed,  some of its boilers were mounted above the armour, as there was just no where else to put them.   Armour is nothing compared to battleship caliber weapons.

TLDR - Great Speed,  Ok arament,  Bad Engine damage.

Mid Tier Carrier - Ibuki

Posted Image

Shared Hull - Mogami Class Cruiser (sorta)

Displacement: 12,500t   Speed: 29 knots

4 - 3in/60

48 - 25mm

6 - 28barreled AA rockets

27 Aircraft

Why - In the wide world of Japanese aircraft carriers, Ibuki really isn't anything too special.  The Mogami's were large but not that large.   Conversion began when Japan was hard pressed and no longer making carriers in their older style, as such it is purely dependent on other ships for protection.  Capacity will prbably be a little below average, but due to its late war nature, it'll have access to better than tier aircraft (quality over quantity).    It's a carrier that emphasizes carrier play style,   sit back,  the fleet is your defense, your aircraft is your attack.

TLDR - Lower Capacity,  No surface defense,  coulld be faster.  Better aircraft.

High Tier Cruiser - Wichita

Shared Hull - Brooklyn (sorta)

Displacement : 10590t   Speed: 33knots

9 - 8in/55

8 - 5in/38

8 - .5in

Why - Because there aren't that many cruisers with shared hulls that wont be appearing in the regular tech tree.  Logically if the Des Moines is tier X,  Baltimore is probably tier IX.  Unless they use Design CA-B, which is esentially an enlarged Baltimore with more armour and an extra turret.  As Wichita is the bases for Baltimore,  the only major difference being hull shape and much weaker secondary aramemnt, it makes a nice analogy to the tier VIII Baltimore.   It's a very potent cruiser,  just doesn't have the late war AA power of other USN ships.

TLDR : Great Guns,  Good Speed, weak secondary,  meh everything else.

Special Thanks to JeeWee for bouncing these ideas around  More info, and photos to come, till then, take some guesses.

I like it, +1

I would be very happy if there was a unique CV for testers and pre-orders. And there are a lot of wierd CV conversions that qualify for the job, but I agree the Ibuki fits it best.

Interesting. Aside from the pre-order ships, I wonder what the CBT gift ship will be.

SG1 For the WIN!!

My knowledge is too parochial to even try.  Good idea though (+1)

Chances are, most of them are wrong.  That's ok however since we know so very little.  The only one I would put money on at this point would probably be USS Lexington.   Apart from the whole  shared hull thing with the Aircraft carrier lexington,  it shares a lot of other pieces with other american warships. So

- Same hull as Lexington Aircraft carrier (which just has to be in game)

- Same main armament as New Mexico and Tennessee,  (again, one has to be in game)

- Same 6in gun as found on South Dakora (1920) and Omaha.  One of which is confirmed, the other esentially in.

- Identical Funnles to itself (it has 7, each is the same)

- Standardized Cage Masts,  same as most American battleship of WWI era

So really, from a modelling standpoint,  they have very little work to do.   But the real kicker for it comes from KGB himself

Maybe for premium ship :)

Of course that can also mean premium, regular premium...but it can also be pre-order.   All the other ships listed there share at least a hull, but usually more with other ships that "most likely" will be appearing in game, Lexington just has the most.

Well I guess that pretty much confirms it.

Good work!
