Should their be a lower tier premium CV

I'm wanting to start CVs, however with my limited playtime it's going to take me what feels like forever to grind out to even the lowest level CV.

Should Wargaming sell a reasonablely priced tier 4 or 5 CV for players who either have no interest in grinding BB's to see if they like CV's or for players who can only average 5 battles a night?

Thoughts, insults, criticizing remarks,  comments on lack of battles, screw you Ruthless?

It literally takes no time to get to a T4 CV.  The minimal grind there is at least let's you understand your prey.

Yes, there should be lower-tier premium CVs. The Graf Zeppelin is the prime example; the absurdity of a Tier VI ship with Tier VI (at best) planes being shoehorned into Tier VIII is nothing short of skin-crawlingly terrifying.

I think a low tier premium CV would be rather interesting since we don't have one currently. Though as for your reasoning, I don't know a lot of people who would throw money at something just to see if it's any good or if they'll like the concept behind it or not. That just sounds like a bad way to spend money. :Smile-_tongue: If you can only average an hour or two of gameplay a night, don't worry about it. You'll have a CV soon enough, as it should only take maybe 15-20 battles of grinding through a T3 BB to get to the CV. So you should be at your first CV in less than a week! :Smile_great: You already have 16 battles in the South Carolina, so you must be close, right?

Well; a CVE is a CVE, there really isn't much you could change to make Bogue any different.

About the only thing any lower we already have; Langley and Hosho. Outside of HMS Furious, about the only thing that could be a 'premium low-tier CV would be that German seaplane tender someone posted about several months back...

Basically a T3 CV with a single squadron of three (floatplane-style) bombers.

A tier 4 or 5 premium CV, there's probably not much of a market for one. At the moment tier 4 and 5 CV's aren't even fully functional. Tier 6, maybe, they'd at least be fully functional, and would add ships that could be used in some ranked seasons and some operations for more variety.

Graf Zeppelin's "Hull" is tier 7 or 8 , she's actually got a fairly large hanger, is huge herself, would have been fast, and with ok armament for the tier. The 1940 air craft, yea, that's tier 6.

Ark Royal (Pennant 91) would have a similar problem, she'd be a tier 7 hull, with a tier 5 air wing, and she was sunk with an air wing of Swordfish and Fulmars so there's no real upgrade.

I'd buy a tier 5 premium Casablanca class CVE.

Why would you buy a premium CV that you cant manual drop with? Would be an awful captain trainer, as all low tier ships are. Seems pointless when you can grab one of the low tier CV's for free....

No.

The CV game needs more depth, not more gimmicks/

With only 2 tech trees, the ratio of premiums to researchable ships is too high, (2/2 at tiers 7 and 8), and has had the effect of toxifying the game with brokenly OP premium ships.

Once new tech trees are implemented, more premiums would be welcome, if carefully tuned to prevent their domination.

What about the french CV that was built off of the hulls of the unused BBs, the Bearn? In it's wiki article, it has a list of fighters, torpedo bombers, and dive bombers/light recon aircraft that would fit at tier V pretty well (if not VI) Her main drawbacks are low speed and small-ish air wing of only 35-40 planes.

Nobody (in comparison to T6+) would buy a T4-5 Premium CV to play in randoms.  With the removal of manual drops, it's pointless.

I'm sure SOMEONE would buy it.  But nowhere near enough for WG to justify the cost of developing one.  And as Goldeagle said, it would be one more incentive for some players to drop down and seal club.

The T4 CVs are already similar to premium ships anyways.

The only ships that can even counter you in that tier are Texas, Yubari and other CVs.

HMS Argus, the very first flat-top, with the squadron of bombers she was working up to attack Wilhelmshaven when the First World War ended? That would be a fitting British premium CV.

Furious would be interesting, especically if they gave us the first version with the single 18 inch gun on the back and secondaries all over. And torpedoes, if I recall correctly. But then all she takes is fighters. On the other hand, fighting off destroyers would not be an issue for her, and if she got lucky with that 18 inch gun at Tier 3 you could say goodbye to your DD or CL.

Could also use one of the proposed KM liner conversions.

But not much point for it, as the only thing you could train in it for is another premium CV...

And as others have said, a low-tier premium CV, for a nation that has a CV line, practically begs to be used as a clubber.

I think the Ark Royal would be a excellent T5-6 carrier with that T5 Swordfish bombers. Ok, it has a T7 hull.. So what? Saipan's hull is Tier 9. Seems fine for me.

how about a T5 UK escort carrier as a teaser for a new line? could have a gimmick where the planes have dual roles, like the swordfish which could be DB or TB, or the fulmar which could act as a slow fighter or a light bomber.

Long Island was a pretty awful CVE that could be used.
