Well stuck at work again all because of a officer afraid to drive in 3 inches of snow, it fits the last few weeks have seem to be nothing but bad luck in R/L, my Truck dies on us so the wife and I have to break into our savings to get a vehicle, now it needs work on it. And to top it off the wife is home sick with a bad case of bronchitis, so I have to worry about her as well.

And I get no overtime for today since I am salary, and since there is snow on the ground/roads I have to sit and wonder if my relief will show up at 1400 or will I have to stay for 12hrs? Which will mean I may miss my clan's operation game play this evening. Damn I want to play today not walk around this building for only G_d knows what number of times, 14yrs I have been here and have maybe missed 2 days a year in that in entire time.

Sorry to vent here BUT I had to blow off steam, so there I am done.

I am also going to lighten my mood with a shout out - to AdmiralThunder, Daffyd9x and gunnyd227 thank you all for the Santa Crates I hope next year I can return the favor.

These crates was one of the only highlights to what has been a rotten few weeks, it seems like from the 24th of December on my luck/life is being hitting me below the belt so thanks again to each of you.

Sorry to hear that, definitely no fun.

I got stuck on guard duty twice in four years when it was fall back time change, so the 4 hour shift was 5. And I was not an MP who had guard duty all the time.  Stay warm and hope you get relief soon.

Thanks, I am more worried about the wife, she was up half the night coughing so she did not get much sleep.

Yeah, half the family has the current nasty cold/flu thing going around. Prayers for her to feel better quickly.

There is what is now being called a very bad flu epidemic going on in this country. Causes bronchitis and can end up in pneumonia. Keep a close eye on her.  Don't mess around with this. I had it a couple of weeks ago and almost ended up in the hospital but I fought it off....but man was I sick.

Good news and hope your wife feels better.  I am also suffering the heavy/cold / bronchitis thingy right now and can confirm it is not fun :(

Your story about getting stuck at work....

So here we are, late 79 / early 80  on HMS Juno..  got into Portsmouth early on the 24th december with a quick refuel...   skipper made a fast run (damn the fuel costs) with a few cut corners on the nav from me, to get us all home for Xmas...  I head home to see the wife for a few days leaving the ship at around 3pm..  leave was until 27th December.

3 AM 25th December.. phone call...  bloody russian cruiser sighted in North Sea..  fleet scramble to cover and escort...   stayed out  until 1st January on cover then straight back on excersise.  Didn't get back home again until March.

Sad part is.. if skipper had kept to origional timeframe, we would have docked midday 25th and missed the scramble due to needing to refuel.

Oh well..  such is life in the real floaty boates :)

Thanks to @Jazzyblaster, @Kizarvexis, @MaliceA4Thought, and @dmckay for you thoughts and well wishes.

She will. Fever broke. This epidemic is pretty bad and was reading yesterday that hospitals are getting overwhelmed. Pretty much in all states now. I am well over 60 and tomorrow I gotta go back into those classrooms.  Got today off. I have been sick once already this winter. Those classrooms are jam azz full of germs. The more people you are around the more your odds go up of getting this. I don't want to get in there with 25 /30 students per class but it's my job.

Yeah I know I have about 250 factory employees walking by me every morning, as I stand near the employee entrance doors, get to feel that winter breeze every time the doors open.

You live near me.  I teach at the Community College in our area (don't want to mention it on-line) and some of these students just don't have the sense to stay home when they start feeling bad....so they sit there hacking and coughing and blasting that sh#t into the air. Once they get real sick they stay home but many come in anyway when it first starts and they are contagious as hell. I do NOT, at my age, want this and have it end up in pneumonia.  No way. Got my fingers crossed.  Glad your wife is better.

Stay safe. I know when my kids started school, they seemed to bring something home every day.
