currently yamato lacks a proper way to counter op dd, it could use such device and radar overall can be buffed in these perspectives:

1. range: 10km should be improved to 15km because most op torpedo can shoot these far. and radar should be able to detect torpedo in this range as well. this will create an equal fighting between op dd and battleships.

2. duration: 30sec is too short for missouri. perhaps 2.5 minutes is better balanced considering sonar can last this long.

3. availability: not only yamato is in desperate need for radar, all tier 8-10 battleship should be able to install radar, maybe at the cost of spotting planes.

I think such improvement is for better balance of this dd-favored game. it allows a more dynamic gameplay. without a proper radar, battleships are sitting stones and target practices for these op dd

this game is called world of battleships

almost all mechanism in this game favours battleships

and you're here whining about DDs......

no, BBs dont need radar, BBabies need a functioning brain

Yamato should also have a auto-targeting laser cannon on it so when dd is detected by 15km OP radar it will insta-kill dd with 100% accuracy without any effort from Yamato captain.

I agree the yamato is not at all like she is in RL

she should have lasers, radar, and she should be able to fly because ...YAMATO!

DD issues in the Yamato? Are you pushed past your Cruiser screens? Might want to work on your positioning...

Otherwise might want to look into spec'ing into CDC (Catapult Direction Center) and Secondaries. 

Sure it's no Hyrdo / Radar / DF but it works. Yamato had 7x Catapult Fighter/Spotter charges. 

There's some breakdown in coverage because the planes "sweep" but if your issues with DD's is that problematic you might want to consider spec'ing to counter them with the tools available to your ship.

That's completely unrealistic.  Destroyers/anything with torpedoes should simply be excluded from all games including a Yamato.

HE should also be banned in those games.  And armor.  Really, Yamato should only have to face Omahas and Furutakas with their torpedo tubes and HE stockpiles removed.

Oh that's all too complicated. All you have to do is rip the torpedoes off Emerald and only allow those to face Yamato.

Still waiting for WG to add a take off function on Yamato and become an space Battleship.

 

People always complain about aircraft, I'm sure they won't complain about BB turning into a space ship with orbital strike

Let's look at these point's,

1) improve range, well currently only 2 DD's outrange the radar on a Tier 10 ship. (Gearing/Shima) So you want to nerf the last 9 DD out of torpedo existence.

2)Improve Duration, Well at 30 seconds any BB capt worth his salt will get 2 shots off on a DD in that time, let's not even talk about a Cruiser. Talk about the Death of the DD as a class all together. 2.5 min your insane.

3)Availability. At current there are at least a dozen high Tier ships (8-10) that can sport radar. you want to add another 12 minium into the mix not counting Premiums.

Now IMO to be "Fair" if these changes were to be implemented you need to give ALL DD's the following changes 

1) variable torp speed/range. Yes IRL all could do it, slow them down which reduces visibility for a longer run

2) Radar blocked by objects in direct LOS. Islands larger Ships ect.

3) Sonar  ineffective vs a DD hiding in shallows while "Silent" and vs a DD masking it's sound by hiding in the wake of a larger ship(yeah it was and is done IRL)

4) for Tier 10 give us HOMING torpedoes (first ones came out in 1944)

5) variable launch size (1,2,3 or more torps per salvo) and variable spread.

I can go on and on here. White Phosphorus rounds for a 100% chance to start Fires(it burn's under water even), metal powder added to smoke to negate radar all together in smoke. (Yeah these things were REAL) How about Radio Silence No target info relayed to Friendlies (would also negate the Radio location skill) So you BB's would quit stealing the kills of the DD's. Or no friendly icon notifying you that you are spotted (like that happened IRL) 

 

All I see here is yet another BB FanBoi who ran into a full torp spread because he was not using the tools to prevent this. WASD hacks do work you know. Vigilance skill , Dual Fighter/spotter plane. Premium Consumables, the list goes on for ways to prevent your BB from getting torped. 

Ooooh I know lets get some real fun and add Submarines to the mix.

In short NO, not just no but HELL NO. The game need's BALANCE your proposed changes would turn the game into World of Battleships online. Because no one in there right mind would take a DD or Cruiser if they were Implemented. They would eliminate DD play all together and without DD's who need's Cruisers so viola BB's only all the time.

Some people need to THINK before they type.or speak you Sir are one of them.
