DoY first impressions

All the work done, all the fun to be had, it's in my port and will probably stay there,  Sample size is small, but the ship is truely one of the worst pieces of crapI have played.   Just fair warning to those struggling to get this ship, it's a pretty squishy inaccurate under gunned ship.   

 

Do what all BBs do,  sit in the back, fling spitballs and watch them bounce off of Atlanta's.. I was laughing my [edited]off at 4 full pen no damage hits and 6 bounces on an atlanta.

Have the Nelson, don't really want DoY, but due to liking perm camos, I do want to finish.

Just another ship that will end up parked once the mission is over....

Yet I have 16 wins in my 22 matches with my DoY, YMMV.

I know right, I thought Leander was piece of junk, had to play it for DoY missions to get the torp hits.  Started playing stock with untrained captain, 16 games played: 10 wins, 21 torp hits, and not nearly as bad as I thought it would be...

Wow the Scharnhorst must be total junk as well since I am actually doing better with my DoY than I do with my Scharnhorst.

I'm glad it works for you,  Not all ships work for people. To me it's a Piece of crap, and I'm the only one that matters in my opinion of the ship :)

 

To be honest, I don't like ANY of the RN BBs, they are all garbage in my eyes, even warspite,  even though I do pretty good in it.

I was getting tanked in my initial games. Read some guides about it online.

It is a SUPPORT ship, plain and simple. It takes alot of penetrating damage, but it's heal repairs an extra 10% of pens compared to other BB's..

You can't be at the front of the pack or risk taking game-ending focus fire. Only begin engaging when you are sure you can take the counter-fire. Once you can engage in team play, it is pretty good.

There's a good thread on it in the forums, if you look a bit.

Exactly what I hate about BBs in this game, we complain about Camping BBs.  they keep making Camping BBs,  I am not some back line support guy, I need to be fighting,   this game is stale enough without adding one more useless bb player camping in the back.

I don't know but the ship work fine for me.

103k damage, (most by HE, 20k fire damage) and 460k credits

edit: 463 863 credits with no flags or camo bonus.

nope, we get she from campain rewards.

The OP said "All the work done, all the fun to be had, it's in my port and will probably stay there" => he get DoY from mission and most of us are same.

edit: nvm, I'm assuming English isn't your first language. I wasn't saying that OP paid for her. I'm well aware that the duke of york is awarded freely from the campaign. It has also been sold in the shop, and people have spent money on it.

What is strange is you do well in the KGV so you would expect similar results with the DoY. Don't dry dock her yet and give her another try.

KGV works and feels 10x better than this useless piece of crap.   It just melts no matter what hits it, no matter what angle you are at,  EVERYTHING pens you .. LoL  Im even staying on the back line being a [edited] using HE on everything lol  The ship to me is just garbage, will always be garbage

Huh? You only have four matches in it but you have won three of them and your average damage is 83k. Those number mean it is far from useless. The OP is struggling with it but you are not.

I don’t have a good captain for her and haven’t spec’d her out yet but so far haven’t been that terribly impressed. Granted I haven’t played the British BBs much so I don’t have a good Yard stick to compare her by. Prefer my America BBs, but they have good captains and play the t8-10s more often now so it’s not really a good comparison. 

I will say this, she is a better ship than the Graf Spee we won last year. In that regard she’s better.
