Roguelike Missions?

Would it ever be possible to have random generated (on existing maps) missions where one side has an objective that is unknown to the other, and the other side just has a search and destroy/protect the map objective?  Like the map could be littered with NPC transports and bases and reconnaissance aircraft.  One side just needs to search and destroy (or inadvertently prevent the enemy team from completing their mission) but the other side's objective could be anything.  Destroy transports, target a specific enemy player, just make it to the opposite side of the map with x amount of ships alive.  You wouldnt know the objective going in and due to randomness, one side could just get screwed, but they wouldn't realize it until they lost because they didn't know the enemy team's objective.  Oops...joeblow in his atago just got blown up...game over that was the objective.  The enemy team could attack some random transports to make you think that was their goal, when really they just need to escape the map with your team's starting position directly in their way.  Rewards may be tricky, but you'd know going in that it could be a crapshoot.  Could work well with clan battles where there is better coordination, or just allow larger divisions like in operations.  Global chat could be disabled so people couldnt reveal their objective.

edit:  team sizes dont even necessarily need to be balanced by ship count if the objective is stealth or eliminating a specific target.  You could get different missions based on your ship type.

This seems to be decidedly unfair for the team without knowledge of the objective... if said joeblow was the only objective of the game then the entire enemy team just focuses him until he inevitably is dead and you just lost in 2 minutes. If both teams knew of the objective then maybe this would be interesting, but also keep in mind the computing power of NPC and animated extras is optional for most people as the average system cannot handle the excess load.

Did I miss anything? Feel free to quote me with any rebuttals as I am prone to mistakes

Right, but if it was a specific game type that you understood before you started, you would know in advance that it may be unfair.  That's the roguelike aspect of it, and part of the draw of playing it.  Sometimes its more about the task at hand than actually winning the match.  Rewards could be based solely on objectives rather than damage or kills (unless that's part of the objective).  The spartans didnt win the battle, but they messed people up on their way out.  Sometimes the game just fks you over.  But then you get the times where you are in a game that you had no business winning, but you do.  Using this game type, I'd like to see some matches that recreate historical battles where one side had a decided advantage.

The main point being, you know before you queue up that you are signing up for this specific possibility.  It could possibly be done in the same vein as ranked, where it's not always an open game type.  Maybe it's just available once or twice a year for a few weeks at a time.
