Bow Chains on Oktober Revolutsiya?

Curious about the purpose of the chains that cross under the bow fin plate and go up either side of the ship.

Any idea what they do?   My mind says something to do with mine protection, but that really does not seem to make sense.

Can't really see what they're attached to, but like others said likes like they're for towing paravanes.
