Since my PC is deciding to shaft me and my premium time by not working might as well post this. My not be a response to @Rolkatsuki's Destroyer~ (Definitely not procrastinating on Ostfront here.)

I will be posting wiki style descriptions and other types of fictional game info for all Alternative universe ships I do, assuming they aren't already in game. It's also kinda silly but it gets the point across. Not like I'm applying to be a wiki editor here~

Kunimi

A modification of the Zao class, Kunimi is considered as Zao's half sister. Although smaller, Kunimi had enhanced firepower compared to her elder sisters and superior Anti Air Defenses.

Player Opinion  

In short, a somewhat improved Zao, Kunimi sacrifices HP and number of guns for larger caliber hard hitting 215 mm rifles complemented with improved range and velocity. Though she carriers only eight guns, the least of all the tier X cruisers. Nonetheless, her main battery is still nothing to laugh at. With a stock range of 20 km, and a total range of 22 km with upgrades, she holds the title of having the longest firing range out of all the X Cruisers. And nearly out ranges some Battleships. Her turrets while almost impossible to knock turn at a rate of decades instead of seconds. Taking some 45 seconds to rotate 180 degrees. Rate of fire is another disappointment, Kunimi takes a madding 16 seconds to reload her eight 215 mm guns. Despite this, when she does get around to firing, even Yamato will want to keep a wary eye on her. As her AP is devastatingly effective and anything caught in her line of fire won't be there for long.

With a top speed of 35 knots, a tight turning circle and a low surface detectability, Captains of Kunimi can use these strengths to get close to a target in order to deliver her devastating AP broadside. But like her older sister, She can NOT trade shell for shell with her counterparts. Much like her elder sister.

 

Exhibiting the lowest hit points of any Tier X cruiser, she is unsuited for long brawling fights with other ships. Her torpedo tubes are mounted slightly more forward when compared to Zao, not to mention the fire forward. Though the are triple launchers and are somewhat inferior in terms of damage. Should her AP fail to do the job, Kunimi can always use her HE with a 25% fire chance and excellent alpha her HE can do in any angled target.


 

Pros:

  • Largest caliber of all Cruisers. 215mm
  • AP/HE Shells weigh more than her counterparts.  
  • Highest Alpha damage of all Cruisers
  • Smaller turning circle then Zao
  • Faster rudder shift time.
  • Longest firing range of all Cruisers
  • Stealthy ship
  • Modules are rather robust
  • 100 mm deck armor over magazines
  • Eight 100 mm anti air guns compared to Zao’s six.

 

Cons:

  • A even longer reload than Zao at 16 seconds
  • Inferior torpedoes which mitigate her forward firing torpedo arcs
  • An even lower hit pool then Zao (35,000)
  • Has the lowest amount of guns of all their X cruisers. With just 8 rifles.
  • Slow turrets that are almost on par with Battleships
  • Fragile stern that can help cause a detonation
  • Unable to mount a spotter plane like her older sister Zao
  • Deck armor is thin, and the 100m only covers certain parts of the ship
  • Some what slow acceleration

 

Research

Nothing of course, she’s already elited.   

 

Optimal Configuration

 

Slot 1: Main Battery Modification 1 Helps reduce her tendency to explode.

Slot 2: Damage Control System Modification 1 Helps reduce chances of fire and flooding.

Slot 3: Aiming Systems modification 1 At this point, don’t blame the ship or RNG if you miss.

Slot 4: Steering gears or Engine acceleration are good choices.

Slot 5: Concealment System Modification 1 More sneaky breki is always welcome.

Slot 6: Gun Fire Range Control System Modification 2 Your only real choice unless you want to experience the British battleship turret rotation meme.

Camouflage

Types 1,2 or 5 can be mounted. Choose 1 or 5. She can also fit the type 20 camofulage.

 

Players who received her as a reward ship will have a unique type 20 Kai camouflage. Provides the same bonuses as type 20 but looks different and shows that the player is skilled in the game.

215mm is by far not the largest caliber.  In fact did anyone ever even have 215mm rifles?

The damage is by far too high for AP and HE.

 

In all honesty, it'd be an awful cruiser that no one would play.  It has no DPM, not to mention having the same HP pool of T6

kek yeah, but I based the ship off the AU work I did and the stats of the Zao. I took into consideration balance, attempted to make it some what different to Zao.

Looks like a good idea, though 6.6k AP Alpha is very high. 5.8 sounds more reasonable, given Zao's AP Performance.
