The map requires each ship to use all the game mechanics to their fullest. It's exciting to watch ships actually doing ships things and not just giant island humping tanks on water.

The maps forces "fleet action" and has basically unlimited number of paths for each side to take. The maps has no place for rock piercing radars to just park and dar. Everyone has to be on the move and the battle's more exciting to watch as a whole. The map also unknowingly balances giant radar and giant hydros because it exposes the radar user also to danger.

It's a great "publicity" map, because admit it, no one wants to see World of Tank on Corner Poking on Water in a game that calls it self "Warships".

Ocean would become torp soup, you did see it in the WSL map rotation it came down to what team had more lucky DDs that stayed alive.

If torpedoes and not gunnery is what wins a map that just shows how fundamentally broke torpedoes are.

Have you tried not sailing in a straight line?

Shooting straight has nothing to do with you not being gud enough to avoid most torpedoes.

The problem with Ocean is it supports only really one type of play, and it is long-range drawn out round slinging and torpedoes. This is the type of battle that's almost never fun to watch, just like it's almost never fun to play at T10. Close-quarters fighting will be limited to only destroyers skirmishing for a capture point, if any, and the remaining time will be the classic bow-on sling a few rounds meta.
