(Edited 12/22/17)

This tutorial is to help new players use Battleships. I usually see Battleships getting used wrong in lower tiers and I want to fix that. If you feel like this topic gives bad advice give me some constructive criticism, and If I see it I will fix the topic.

Usually I see Battleships run straight into the battle alone. This is a big mistake by the player. Most of the time when you go alone you get focus fired, and you are usually the first person to die on your team. Stay with your team! Another problem I see is seeing certain types of battleships leading the charge. This is another problem. Some types of battleships get pinned down by AP or HE shells and with their low speed most of the time can't escape. Certain types of Battleships should stay in the middle or close front of your team! Another problem I see I see with Battleships (and other low tier ships) is that they fire directly at the enemy. Never do this. You should fire where the enemy is going to be! Another problem I see is Battleships (and other ships) running right into torpedos. Battleships should notice the torpedos and turn their hull into the space between to torpedos, so you miss the torpedos! Don't wait for the last minute to turn because Battleships don't turn fast.

I hope low their Battleships learned from this article. Thank you for your time. Good luck and fair seas!:cap_rambo:

Yes! And the cruisers should be in the front so they can get deleted by the battleships!

Seriously though, don't encourage German Battleships to snipe. People see this: "with the longest ranges of their tier, which they can extend even further still with Spotting Aircraft, allowing them to rain destruction upon their enemies with impunity" for Japanese battleships on the wiki and suddenly they feel the need to sit at the very back of the map and snipe miss salvo after salvo and complain about bad RNG.

What would you rather have leading the charge? Cruisers, which can deleted in a single salvo by battleships? Destroyers, which need stealth and staying undected to survive? (unless you're soviet)

I don't care what some people say, My German BBs escort the front line into battle and then engage medium, close, or very close range preferably. That way you can make good use of your strong armor, but also your main and secondary guns which are lethal to the enemy lol..

I will lone wolf it depending on which ship I decide to play.  If I'm in my Tirpitz or Scharnhorst, yea the heck with it.  Those two particular ships are built for brawling and I have no problem going one on 3 or 4.  Maybe I'm just crazy and like to have fun.  That's just me.

OK but do I see BBs leading the charge? Like once in a blue moon maybe.....but they should not be in the lead. You are right bout that.

What if I told you that each bb is intended to fill a certain role. German bb are better for brawling thanks to God teir secondaries, American bbs are more of a medium range ship that punishes people out of place and punishes CV players with withering aa blankets. And ijn bbs are kind of the black sheep where they can do a little of everything but isn't amazibg at any of em

The problem is players do not know their role nor are even encouraged to do it because WG can't code proper game rewards and mechanics.

The only thing that matters in this game is damage, kills and caps in that order. That's what rewards you the bulk of XP and credits.

It is not surprising then to see DDs not bother to SPOT for their team because they need to cap.. not surprising to see them lemming rush at close range vs other DDs and BBs because a few torpedo hits can give them enough XP and credits to turn the battle's result into profit.

It is not surprising to see cruisers also rushing to cap and then rushing to hide behind the frontmost islands so they can lob HE/Fire at red BBs.. because that nets the most credits and kills.

It is not surprising to see BB's hang in the back..because their long reloads mean they need to fire many salvos and get solid hits on most of them to turn the battle's ends into a profit.. a BB that rushes forward to 'tank' for a team only ends up entering the range of the entire red team cruiser focus fire and dies before it can reload a second time. BBs can only tank vs AP not vs the incompetently designed HE/Fire.

If WG increased rewards for spotting to match 1:1 the rewards the other friendly ship(s) inflicting on the target the DD spots you'd see DDs having a damn reason to remain stealthy, flanking and spotting+torping.

If WG removed cruiser citadels and made ALL HE do zero damage and have zero chance of fire if the shell itself does not penetrate the armor.. we'd see cruisers actually use their superior speed and maneuverability and refire rate to hunt DDs and DPS add on vs cruisers and BBs.

If BB's didn't have to deal with fantasy nuclear napalm that somehow sinks the whole ship despite not a single hole ever being punched into its armor then BB's would actually be using their heavy armor to push and 'tank' in support of the cruisers and DDs.

.. but we have none of that. So you get nothing but lemmings rushing to cash in on the profitable damage/actions regardless of win or loss.

Its so sad that you can have a tier 10 BB with the permanent camo and in less than 3 minutes, if firing nonstop and getting some good hits on red BBs, you turn in a solid profit regardless of win or loss. So why bother performing?
