Maximize Chances Christmas Boxes

I wasn't around the last time Christmas boxes were a thing so I'm curious if I buy a bunch of 1$ boxes do those give me an equal chance of earning ships? From the website it says all boxes give you a slim chance but it doesn't say if high dollar boxes give you a higher chance than low dollar boxes.

If you really really want ships the Mega boxes are your best bet but they all are good value for the money.

Got several ships in the big boxes....  All are a good value.

$1 boxes have a very low chance of rolling up a ship from virtually everyone's personal experience.   I mean personally I won a Warspite from a $1 box last year but that was the only ship out of about 20 x $1 boxes I bought last year.  By contrast, I have generally gotten about 1 ship every 5 boxes with the $3 boxes so if your after ships, the $3 boxes are an excellent value for your return.  The $5 boxes tend to have the best chance of dropping a ship but it is not so much higher than the $3 boxes that they are cost effective to buy if you just going for ships.   On the other hand if your interested in all the rewards including camos and flags, the $5 boxes are probably your best value.

Summary:  If you are just wanting ships, buy $3 boxes.  If you want camos, flags AND ships, go for the $5 boxes.   Avoid $1 boxes.

What about the math if I am interested in doubloons and premium time first and foremost and view the rest as a cool bonus?  Is it worth buying boxes solely for the doubloons and premium?  (Aside from the Atlanta I already own all the premiums I am seriously interested in and debating boxes vs. just buying the Hotlanta and premium time outright.)

Just buy the final things you want.  The year premium special has a lot of flag with it, something you may get anyway with cartons.  You could invest a pile of cash in cartons and not get what you are looking for.  I did not get any premium time with my 40 cartons, and no ship that I really wanted (3 tier 6 and a Kut, which I had sold at smoke nerf time).  Seen several posts where people did not get any ships in the cartons they bought.  If you were trying for a ship  not sold anymore, then of course Crates, but since Atlanta is available, just purchase.
