The Operation Narai scenario launched this week and we are looking for your feedback!

  • What ships did you attempt it in?
  • How did the overall scenario play?
  • Did you complete it?
  • Would you have changed anything to make it more fun?

I think the planes are a bit excessive - if you are focused by all squadrons there isn't much you can do besides hope a teammate has defensive AA. Perhaps program the planes to spread their aggression out more?

Haven't played it yet on this server, but scored well on the test server with 5 stars.

I used the Gneisenau, The operation is one of the more challenging ones, but that's what I want in them.

These operations in general are a BLAST to play, and even more fun when you have team mates that "Get" the idea of how to play the objective.

Would I change anything, nope, their good to go.

Did it in Yorck with five stars on my first try.

It's now easy, not with a Missouri and with all the ships running away, but it's pretty fun.

I had a really good random team, I'm not sure if the assault ships were even damaged.

It does go by a lot faster than the other operations in my opinion though.

Indianapolis seems to be superb for the new operations.

Strong AA suit, powerful hard hitting guns and strong armor with sufficient angling. I very much have enjoyed this ship.

Managed to 5 star Narai on my first try with it, strong team that didn't allow any enemies to stand up for very long if at all, meaning that we took little punishment.

As for improvements, I think Narai is strong as an operation, although I felt that the rewards seemed lacklustre compared to something like Dunkirk or the Halloween op.

Looking forward to trying it tonight, played it on the PTS, and did ok.  One 5 star win, and quite a few loses.  One of the more difficult ones, but should be easier as more people learn what they have to do and where they need to be.  Had ships (battleships) sailing off into the far regions of the map (looking for ??) and not contributing in a couple of outings.  All this type of stuff should go away with time. I hope.

Also managed 5 star first try, think I had a good team though. Also did it in Indy, took little damage but did have to block one ship from moving too fast. It was fun but short lived.

The transports move a bit fast and the planes can be a bit much, but after half a dozen attempts I got on a team that was with it enough to complete with 5 stars. I drove a Scharnhorst.

Played it in Belfast and in Yorck..played about 5 times: 4 of them 5 stars and one loss.

Personally think its a bit too easy...only way you lose if you have a few teammates who kinda bugger off by themselves, which is what happened in the one loss..our BBs thought this was a random battle and lagged way behind and then refused to push through the gap at end..so myself and one DD had to try and secure all the secondary ships and protect ours...and they managed to sink our 4 ships.

Its a fine scenario but a bit too easy...would like to see more AI ships come at faster pace..right now its too easy to focus them down as they come kinda one by one.

I 5 starred it on the first try in the Atlanta. Planes weren't a problem, and the torps are really useful for the MO. It's not easy, but it's not impossible. There's a lot going on, no time to think, I like it.

The transports seem a bit fast. Unless you go full ahead in a straight line, they will get in front of you, with bad consequences. If they went a bit slower it would be better. As it is, ramming is kind of necessary to avoid them sailing into a torp spread. I've even seen our CV block torps from them. Seems a bit much.

Played it last night with the following ships/results: Shiratsuyu (loss), Shchors (5 star), Yorck (4 star), Fiji (4 or 5 star), Nagato (4 star), Colorado (5 star), Leberecht Maass (loss).

I'm pretty sure this feedback is going to be all tied up in the bot AI.

  • It's slightly more difficult to play as a BB than a random match because of the compressed distance and the speed that enemies both show up and die.  Not that it's more difficult to survive (that's easier) or win - it's more difficult to deal consistent damage with the slow reload, turret rotation, ship speed and rudder.
  • It's easier than randoms in cruisers because the bots just don't react well to cruisers.  As long as you can predict the torpedoes, keep your broadside away from the Missouri, and pay some attention to the planes - all standard cruiser survival skills - it's pretty easy to keep landing shells on target and flex where you need to be.
  • It's much harder than randoms in destroyers, because in order to contribute you *need* to use your torpedoes well.  Which depends on being in exactly the right place at exactly the right time, and the bots dodge torpedoes, so you have to keep that up the whole game.  Otherwise, your boat is too fragile and the bots are too accurate and focus you down, forcing you to run away to live.  Plus, smoke is virtually useless for two reasons: the AI kinda knows where you are anyway, and the whole battle is a running fight.

I did find that if my team pulled the win, getting five stars wasn't that difficult.

I like this one a lot!

I've used the Following Vessels:

S. Dragon, Ashitaka, Nagato, Sims, Mahan, Pensacola, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Colorado, Ranger, Leningrad, Yorck, Scharnhorst, Gneisenau, King George V, Hood, Nelson and Blyskawica.

What I found interesting about the scenario:

MO loves to ram Transports, and I've seen a transport ram MO. :Smile_izmena:  A French DD that I want, just to have it at least.:Smile_teethhappy:    Personally, I've not had many issues with MO, even as a cruiser.  I just make sure to keep an island between me and her, and things go well.  If not, we'll, Mistress RNG can be quite brutal, but also grace you with all the luck. :Smile_hiding:

Did I complete it?

Yes.  My very first go was a 5 star match in my Nagato, where I placed dead center.  Mistress RNG felt I needed to be slapped around a bit.:cap_fainting:  But you could say I cheated, as I ended up with a full division team (I was the only "solo").  I've 5 star'd it 3 or 4 more times since, where the teams were completely random.

What would I change?

I'd make sure that a transport, for any reason, doesn't end up way out on point.  There have been more than a few matches where a transport ends up way out on point (other's dodging torpedoes, getting held up by allies, etc.) and not to my surprise, get's focused pretty quickly.  If possible, change it to where they'll zig-zag or circle back to allow the other transports to catch up.  I wouldn't have them come to a stop or slow down for the others either as that will make them REALLY easy targets.

The Ranger can get to be a bit much, especially if there are no CV's in the match and there isn't a AA ship and/or ship with DF in the line up either.  I believe it would make it much better if you gave King Raptor's loadout of 1/0/3, or even buff it to a 1/0/4.  Alternatively, you can swap King's class with the reinforcement CV; so King would be an Independence and the reinforcement CV would be a Ranger.

One last bit, I'm surprised there wasn't an airfield added.  You could swap King out for an Airfield that has a bit of AA and is tougher than what we have in Ultimate Frontier.  Or you could leave King in, add the airfield to support King with more dive bombers.:Smile_Default:

Got 5 stars first try in an Atlanta.  Used flags and made off with lots of credits, commander XP, and free XP.  Could possibly be a bit harder, but maybe our team just worked well together.

I've completed this multiple times but I had a good amount of practice on the test server.  All though I've 5 starred it multiple times in both cruisers and BB's, it's all about teamwork.  Thank you WG for letting us respec our Captains, did the full AA build for the ships to be used in this mission, with that close to 40 planes so that's nice not having to spend 400 gold to respec.  On another note, so many come into the scenario clueless so it's a gamble how you will do.

Like any scenario, i played it...

In fact i played it once and got 5 stars. (5 stars on all scenario btw :))

1)     I did it with the Algérie Cruiser.

2)     Scenario went pretty well. We stayed grouped, focus fire on same ships and nobody went yolo. We lost 3 ships (1 BB, 2 CA on the last moments of the scenario). We killed all ships along with landing all troops.

3)     Completed it once and got 5 stars. (5 stars on all scenario btw :))

4)     One of the more challenging scenario imo. If i would not have a great team play, i would not got 5 stars on first run :)

Ran it in a Fiji.  Good action.  Not sure why the lead transport is full steam ahead.   I think one of our BBs jumped in the way to block and slow him down a bit.   YOLO Transport?

We split forces at the triangle island and shredded everyone with cross-fire.

Enjoyed it quite a bit.

I feel that it is too easy, as I have been able to 5 star it twice with completely random teams.

The bombers could be a bit more resiliant because it's not unusual for a full AA spec Gneisenau to chew up 50+ airplanes and not take any damage from them.

Fantastic mission! Really enjoyed it and the nonstop action basicly!

Some more detailed feedback:

Killing everything and everyone seems to be far easier, more fun/rewarding or even possible then the alt objective of landing x troops.

Getting 5 stars is fairly easy IF you manage to also kill everything (or in other words you either fail completely or get 4-5 stars when you go for kill path). This observation might have a slight bias, since killing everything is only possible with a few decent players in huge damage/dpm ships anyways and thus they will also wipe everything early on that might otherwise threaten the other secondary objectives.

As said, its either fail main task or win with most secondary tasks done. This scenario is quite easy to completely fail while most others are fairly easy but hard to do with all/most secondary objectives.

Good cruisers seem to be DPM monsters, especially the Fiji! Belfast might also work well but in this kind of oblivious bot target rich environment the fiji is much more dangerous with AP. Shchors might also work but its too soft imo for the final CQC part. Keep in mind that smoke wont really save you on the final area/push as for most cruisers you get spotted at min 5.4km when firing there. I suppose Myoko/ARP stuff also works since they are a bit more tanky, have huge alpha and lots of torps but the arcs on guns and torps are not that usefull.

As for BBs, Gneisenau and Scharnhorst! You will end up in brawls and get shot from multiple sides. Only the german brawlers can stand up to that kind of meat grinder! Well and KGV but it cant retaliate even half as well in CQC. Ashitaka might have a place here since its walks fastly and carries a big stick... but it cant take a beating and the shells can totaly fail you sometimes.

DDs hm I dont really know. Gadjah might work allright with its decent firepower and fast reload, lots of charges, smoke. Rest I dont really see as effective since you will escort and defend a lot and thus smoke is limited and bots come mostly right at you so they aint really good torp targets.

As for CV, Kaga! Not much enemy air assets (well a ranger and later an indy but thats no prob with strafes) but you have THE strike power!

I'm glad to see people are winning this scenario, I've tried it four times with no luck. Once in my Myoko and three times with my Atlanta. Everyone gets themselves sunk before we make it to the final destination and from there I'm left fighting off everything with one or two BBs on my side. I'm not gonna give up!

I played it on the PTS in AA spec Pensacola.  Fun and challenging.  We failed about half the time and never did get a clean 5 star win.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Tier 7 to play it live.

Finally got a KONGO!  Burn in hell, Myogi.

Here's a bit of odd feedback.  It sort of stinks to have a new operation released at the same time as a couple of new Campaigns are also released, and to not allow operations battles to count towards those campaigns.  Definitely a case of bad timing.

Got 5 stars 1st try in Gneisenau.

Finished 5th with 128 K damage and 4 kills.

Me and a Scharnhorst just led the way out front with the rest close on our heels.

Seemed easier than most scenarios actually.  But lots of fun.
