Best DD's Ever..

Actually it was really just a great team, but the last 2 DD's in the game held it all together for the win..and they did everything right.  I mean balls out, facing down cruisers, taking down caps right.  @emeleye  You were a boss.  @MmmSakuya You busted out the last caps to hold the game. 

Recap.  Me (GK) and a hindy went to D cap..  Banged it out.. took the cap.  At this point the game was pretty much a roll.   I got smoked by some torps..  ugh.    And things started to unravel a bit.      Both of those guys totally took over the game.  What was a roll..  that was going to be a loss..  turned back to win because of them.  If you are a DD driver you need to be like them.  If you aren't a DD driver, well you want them with you.

I had a team like that earlier tonight, everyone with more than 1000 points and almost everyone with a kill. Nothing sent in chat but relevant commands, warnings, requests and congradulations. Would that I could division with the likes of them every game.

You deserved it man.  It was a little while ago, but I still remember it.  Might play a bit..  hope I see you on my side and hope you are still running it hard.

He has 9 posts and 20 battles- he's clueless. = Anyone with only 20 battles (zRiot) that decides your post (CaptGodzillaPig) which gives recognition to the good high tier DD play of others as "cringe worthy" is in fact clueless about the game.

Good on you for the post.= Kudos to you (CaptGodzillaPig) for a positive posting, naming and faming good play you experienced.

This has been one of the most fascinating aspects I have experienced with WOWS.  Above-average player seeing a teammate play smart looked really weird to him. Why did I not engage the half-health IJN DD that was 9km away? Because he had a lot of backup. Sure, I might have been able to hit him with a few of my floating shells but then I would have been focused down to death by the cruisers he had behind him.

Why did I engage the Hindenburg near the end? For exactly that reason, it was near the end and I was spotted anyway. There was nothing left to do at the point and we were far from having a chance at winning.

In my Gearing, I have a 59% solo win rate and a 1722 WTR. Sorry I am not up to the standards you expect of teammates.

A few months ago, while playing on the Warrior’s Path map, I approached the B cap from the south at the start. I got inside the point and was blocked from capping by the other team. My approach when this happens is to be patient. Eventually, the other player(s) get impatient and charge to other side of the middle island. This gives me the advantage as I can torp them while kiting away. Plus, I had a friendly Mino nearby so any DD foolish enough to push around would be cut to ribbons quickly.

While waiting them out, I see in team chat, “Gearing parked” from that same Mino. Then, he started shooting me because I wasn’t moving. He knocked out 75% of my health, turned pink, and kept shooting me until he died. It was at this time the enemy DD lost patience and came around the island. A Lo Yang. Had our Mino been smarter, we would have been able to take them out before he had a chance to say, “I messed up.”

Afterwards, I looked up the Mino. More than 10,000 battles, WTR just over 1000 and win rate just over 50%. He should have known better. I did smile a few weeks later when he showed in the forums to complain about getting friendly torped in his Mino by a Shima. Karma.

@ArgosRising Sorry, I recently purged my old replays as they were taking up a lot of space.  Plus, my understanding is that replays from older updates do not always work in the current client.

 

EDIT: As the person to whom I was replying in the first part of this post has subsequently had that post removed, mine now looks like a borderline name-and-shame.  Edited to fix that.
