In four of the five I finished "top of tier" position or better.  

 

I would post end screens, but for some reason WG has reduced the max size of attachments below the in-game screen size dump size.

 

Edit:  Oh, I did play one game in Co-op to complete the first DoY task.  Have to win to that one...and with five loses in random, I felt it was time for a breather.

I went 4-1 through my first five games. None of them were barn burners, but I did top the overall scoreboard and net three kills in my second or third game.

Players buying junk ships is why WG is getting more and more comfortable releasing even junkier ships, and charging even more money for them on top of it.

Wargaming releases ships that land all over the quality spectrum all of the time. Kidd and Giulio Cesare are statistical darlings right now, but they were followed by the Trashitaka and Huangmeh. If you look at the history of premium ship releases, its pretty checkered in general. The fact that people are buying Duke of Yuck, Trashitaka, and Huangmeh doesn't mean that ships like Roma or Asashio are going to turn out poorly. For every dog like Krasny Krym or Prinz Eugen, there's a Harekaze or Scharnhorst. I get it, the desire to see people vote with their wallets so that WG doesn't feel vindicated in releasing needlessly "hardmode" ships. Still, they've never listened to that kind of thing before, and I doubt that they're going to start now, regardless of how many or how few Puke of Yorks that they sell.

I'm just doing the quests for it, not interested in dropping coin for it.

Don't put too much stock in the winning right now.  The teams today have been so wonky that the only thing you can do is take care of your own performance.  You know it's bad when you are getting regular teams where 1/3 of the team scores about 200 pts or less.

That's the better way to obtain it, really. I only paid money for it because I knew that I was going to struggle to find the time to grind out the ship AND all of the Tier VIs in the campaign.

Do they? That's good to hear. I never really play scenarios, but perhaps I should just to give those ships a chance to shine.

I needed some Premium time and decided to stock up on doubloons (for the pending free XP exchange when Musashi comes out).  If I bought Premium time and doubloons separately, and throwing in the flags, the actual net cost of the DoY was under $10.00.  It's a matter of perspective.  One can say I bought a $100 ship and got free Premium time and free doubloons and flags.  Or, one can say I bought Premium time and doubloons and flags and got a $10.00 ship.  Or, if you take the special flag into considerations...bought a $10.00 flag and got a free DoY.  At end of day, no matter how you slice it, the price and products obtained were the same.

Now factor in the value of the rewards (and time spent) on the respective grinds, and that only adds value to an early DoY.

Lastly, as for the "Garbage" boat, if it under performs, WG will give it a buff down the road.  So I don't see that as an issue.

I'm going to grind it out, and then finish the campaign for the Scharnhorst Arctic camo.  I managed it for the previous campaign.

Same here, wasn’t able to finish the last mission last year only because I don’t have Tirpitz

Make an easy 250-500k if coin if you 5 star it in a premium.

I just got to fight alongside a Musashi in mine. He took distant first in a losing effort, but I came up respectably in second place.

Yeah not in a hurry to get one. Just do the free missions and call it a day.
