300 [WKY20] LifePilgrim Members 1,313 posts 7,092 battles Report post #1 Posted December 21, 2017 (edited) I was the 2nd best performing cruiser in the game and got insulted and harassed through in-game chat and menu chat. I did make a mistake by turning to a BB's line of fire but it was all for good fun and not an excuse. I was raking in over 100,000 damage in the Fiji and was enjoying the game.....I was the 4th or 5th players from the top after the match. Why is the game full of toxic people? It made me want to quit the missions. It's not worth it being insulted over a game. The way the system is set up makes people toxic out of frustration. 7,954 [PVE] Taylor3006 [PVE] Members 12,109 posts 31,226 battles Report post #4 Posted December 21, 2017 PvP play is like that, one of the reasons I hate it so I play PvE. Much nicer people there IMHO. When I do venture into PvP play to do missions and farm rewards, I put the entire enemy team on mute. That itself cuts the nonsense to half. If a teammate is annoying in chat, I mute them. If a teammate starts the typical "you people all suck" after getting sunk, I mute them. I tend to mute almost everyone who is saying anything that is vaguely annoying or nasty. PvP still sucks, but the mute feature makes it suck less. 5

902 Vaidency Members 1,488 posts 8,824 battles Report post #7 Posted December 21, 2017 There is a certain minority of players who feel personally insulted and wronged when they "undeservedly" lose a game because of a teammate's mistake. These players play WG games. They also play games by every other videogame developer. When they're not playing games, they're probably annoying the people they interact with in real life. You should ignore them.

It's so easy to complain, say how bad people are. Maybe it's you, maybe people are toxic because you are playing like crap. It's so easy to complain on here, it's rare people say.... I played like crap, I [edited] up and lost a game. It's common to whine about people telling you that fact. I suck a lot lately, haven't played much and I sucked when I did. But. I understand it's a team game, someone tells me I suck I try and figure out what gave them the reason. Maybe it's you...

1,081 [RICO5] CaptGodzillaPig Members 3,273 posts 7,504 battles Report post #21 Posted December 21, 2017 Just a thought.. Were you in the back farming damage in that cruiser? Some people.. Say BB players that are getting torped to oblivion.. Usually like to have some cruiser support. Not saying you didn't help out...but how much damage you did or where you ended up on the team screen at the end really has little to do with how you may have actually helped your team. It is a sore topic, but cruisers are really good at being useless as heck over all and still doing really good for themselves.

Those saying it's just the internet spend too much time on Reddit and 4chan and facebook and youtube comments. Many sections of the internet are civilized and fine. Many MP games are civilized and fine. The ones like WGing titles, or Battlefield, or COD, or games like that invite the bad attitudes, and most of it is borne out of the same source: performance dictates the amount of fun and/or content you have. That's really it. So in WoWs case, XP, Credits, and stats to a large degree all contribute to players having [edited] attitudes when the game doesnt go their way, because when the game doesnt go their way they GENUINELY lose something. You know what I've noticed about 90% of RTS's? That same attitude doesn't exist, with one noted exception: CoH2 and low and behold, they have unlocks and are very stats based. I would wage *big* money, in the 1000's of dollars that if Wargaming 1) Removed Persistent Stats, 2) Gave access to all tree ships at all times (remember when games did that? boy those were nice times... no one had to GRIND unlocks in BF1942), and 3) Allowed killed ships to immediately join a new match after leaving a battle, the attitudes would change DRAMATICALLY in this game. Good post. Very good. What many don't realize is that in this game no one really gives a sh#t about you numbers. Really, most don't, but WG has always promoted that. Sells ships and tanks. Pit players against players. Smart marketing! Yes. I have NO idea who is good or bad in this game unless I see one of those "look at me" threads where they go all out to show ya how great they are. I spend bout 2 secs looking at those" look at me posts" which can go on and on and on with all those screen shots. Boring....totally. Most just care about their own personal intrinsic value....and do not give a damn bout what others think. If that makes any sense. Unfortunately, that means that you may also miss important messages from players that have nothing to do with salt. The best option you have is to division, but that isn't always possible. Honestly, I ignore chat most of the time,
