Got a question about that,   I  have a friend who's playing CV's almost exclusively he has two carrier's the Langley and the Independence.    Now since he won't do it for himself and if I buy it from the tech tree can I gift him with with a ship that I bought there?     I can't  afford  to buy it from the premium shop however I think I may be able to afford it from the tech tree...............Can I gift him with one I bought there?

Not possible, if you buy it it's yours...not transferable.

You can only gift from the premium shop. You can’t gift from the tech tree. Tech tree is only for you.

I got 4 ships from Santa and they are all available for doubloons as well.

Also 4 -10 point commanders including port slots for $45.

Definitely more of a gamble with Santa crates though.

Spent about 30 bucks on Santa Crates, and got nothing particularly useful except some Doubloons.  Fortunately, a couple of the premium ships I missed earlier this year, are on sale for 50% and 30% off, so the doubloons paid for them. So, no 10 pt Captains, but was still able to get the ships and have shiny gold left over.

Various small packages (like the weekend passes), paypal doubloon bonuses along with doubloons you get from buying premium ships (like shinyhorse/Dunkeroo) add up. Plus I haven’t spent any outside of the occasional portslot sale since alpha.

spent 20x1 and 5x3  and got    ohotnik, mutsu and degrasse  plus 300 gold,   20k freexp,  bunch of camo and flags.  not bad for 30 bucks

You can buy commanders separate/by themselves no ship?   Didn't see that...........................Hmm

I haven't seen that option. Probably got duplicate ships and then you get the current doubloon value, the captain and a port slot.

I put the C hull on the Nurnberg for one operation for the AA and forgot to change it back for a month. I had fun even tho I kept thinking, 'I thought this had two sets of torps. I guess it was two as in one on each side.'

 

So I'm going for it. Besides, I play a lot of PvE, so the fragile part is not that bad for me. I also don't have any captains with IFHE yet, usually get CE first, so I could use a RU cruiser captain trainer that doesn't need IFHE.

I meant to say that with the ships and the 10 point commanders that came with them, it was a better bargain (in this case at least - lots of people are spending money and not getting a lot of ships for it).

The alternative is to buy it at the store - ship + commander, no skill points.

or on the Tree, option to buy a 1 or 3 skill point commander.

Wow, that is a bit unrelated!  Segal does have special characteristics.  For him, Expert Loader and Expert Marksman are buffed a bit.
