How do seal club like a filthy beast in the LongJiang?

Poll

  1. 1. Does it take a darn long time to train a 5pt captain on a T2 boat? (Torp accel is 2 points??)

    • No, worth it, do it.
    • Yes, not worth your time.
  2. 2. PT or PM?

I'm thinking of keeping the ship with its own captain for seal clubbing. Does it take excruciatingly long to train a 1pt captain to 5pts?

Should I take PT or PM?

I'm thinking PM, LS, and Torp Accel.

Also, is it better experience to just seal club in the ShenYang instead?

I would take PT until you get your 4th Point for concealment expert then Respec. PT will be able to tell you some helpful info. I don't find PM all that useful, you have darn near Perma smoke allowing you to cloke up if you need to repair a module.

It depends on whether you are a stalk-and-snipe-from-cover player or you like to knife-fight. I sometimes like the latter, even though I know these ships are gun-dependent against other destroyers. I prefer to protect my modules, because I know enemy DDs can charge my smoke with impunity and I will almost certainly take gunfire damage.

Those who advise respeccing need to remember that:

1) Low-tier players are not going to be able to do this if they are free-to-play (e.g. if they are poor or children), and because they haven't had enough time to accumulate elite captains.

2) It's still expensive in elite captain XP terms, and doubloons begin to add up after a while.

Hey

For what it's worth; I think PT is better than PM until you get to T8 and above, but it's always nice to know how many are wanting to kill you.

The advantage of going as high as the Shenyang is that Tier IV ships are eligible for reward-earning tasks (in random mostly but sometimes also in co-op) which lower-tier ships are not. On a side note, this, I realise now, is the curse of the Vampire. An excellent, fun, free premium (I won her in the relevant mission late last year), but just too low-tier for any number of things and with an inflexible, un-transferrable captain (I don't have a Perth).

The phra ruang is better at seal clubbing IMO.

Agreed.  Check out my latest result in a PR.  My team lost because they couldn't agree on a strategy but I was a one-ship wrecking machine.  If I could have divisioned up with a Clemson or an Isokaze (spent a lot of time dodging red dds), we could have taken the entire red team by ourselves.

I played 3 games in LJ and don't want to ever play it again. I just feel dirty playing her. Got a Kraken on the very first outing and it was just so unfair to enemy BBs. I mean, what can they do against a super-sneaky torpedo boat with super sneaky 8.4 km torpedoes? Only 3 guns, but reload is great and PA smokes on top of that. It's an evil boat.

Be a decent human being and seal club on T4. There's some challenge at least and ShenYang is a monster too.

As far as cap skills, I'd take PM+LS+DE. I don't think you need much faster torps to feast on BB tears and with torp reload speed on LJ you can just spam them like crazy. With DE and amazing concealment and amazing RoF, you can not only torp, but burn things down nicely.

Revisiting this thread.. cuz I got a 10pt PA captain JUST for Longjiang or Phra Ruang.  Which ship is better overall for winning the most? (Also, is V25 T2 better?)

Also, CE or Torpedo-Accel + Adren Rush??

(Preferably both, but I don't have time to raise that to a 14pt cap)

PM
LS         TA(12)    AR(14)
SE
CE(10)

revisiting this thread 'cause with current Random "match-up" rules... you seem  to usually end up 4-6 DDs vs 4-6 DDs and 1-2 CAs and 1 (or maybe 2) BBs (and a rare CV)... and since torps are useless against DDs -- people still play Longjiang ?

Hohohoho...you want a Seal Clubber? Shenyang is how you spell that in “PA.”  Seriously - awesome guns, awesome speed to dispatch your fellow DD and strong torps.  Get that CE Captain on her for proper clubbing and wreck people by launching from stealth. Amuse yourself by hunting down the Kamikaze sisters and slaughtering them.

Ive heard that Shenyang... what is it, 5.4 Set, 6.4 torps? The 6.4 torps makes me worried.
