I'll take it as at the 15 minute mark red was almost on the cap and there were two green left. 30 seconds more and we would have won.

Be thankful it's not the old days when every other match WAS a draw

People complained to high heaven about draws but some times not losing is a win

It wasn't that bad and the rate was dropping fast as people learned to play to win and not worry about killing them all like is the norm in WoT.

Those were dark times indeed. Also very boring as most games lasted a full 20 minutes.

I must have come in right near the end of that, (Sept 2015?) About the only time I've seen any draws lately have been in Co-op games where things got really screwed up; and once recently when nobody capped; we Greens and the Reds killed an equivilant value of ships, and the time ran out...

This was early CB I think. Now imagine games where tue only ways to win were to kill everythin or cap out in standard battle. No point system was in place at the time so one ship could just run off the map and gorce a draw if no one capped.

The Age of Draws, the "Dark Times" as you said, didn't end until after Closed Beta ended and after the game went live.  It ended after one of the first couple of patches to the live game.  Before that, Standard Battles were like WoT Standard Battles.  As you point out, the Victory Conditions were only cap the enemy base or kill all.  There was no points system for Standard Battles, so games could end where neither team capped the base and there were survivors on both sides.  If I recall correctly, they also did not have the rule for Domination Battles where whoever was ahead on points when the timer ended the game was declared the winner.  That meant Domination games could have a similar outcome.  Because of these factors, the draw rate in WoWS was actually up around 4% to 5% instead of the still hated 1% in WoT at the time.

The first couple of patches came fairly quickly as they were things they had been working on for release but I think they just ran out of time on.  One of the things they added at that time was that they made all game modes variations of the Domination points system, even Standard Battles.  To make Standard Battles different than other Domination modes, you just automatically get the game winning 1000 points for capping the enemy base.  That, combined with the added condition in all modes that you would win if you were ahead on points when the game timer ended the game, made Draws become an ultra rare occurrence.  Now, you can only draw if you both end with exactly the same number of points (which includes simultaneous capping of each other's base in a Standard game) or the last two survivors kill each other at the same time (e.g., ram each other).

So it was early in the game, but it wasn't until after the game went live.

IMO they should bring draws back with a caviat both sides lose. No hiding behind an island because your ahead on points grow a pair and fight to the death or lose.

Change that I propose a new game mode team annihilator match. You must eliminate the enemy team or you lose. Put it into rotation pronto.

So the hell with playing strategically to preserve a win. That is basically what was causing all of the draws before.

Yeah but if you don't you lose, no draws; both sides lose.

Basically you get the satisfaction in that by living the other team loses. That is it though.
