Pretty sure all the prems are more expensive than that by now, but if the crates are the same as last year you can stand a good chance of getting some rare (not sold anymore) or expensive prems of a low price. However, being a gambling addict, I will spend 3x the money to try to win a certain ship vs buying doubloons and simply buying it from the store. As for me I'll probably throw down $30 or so on em hoping for better stuff than I got last year (a lot of dragon flags mostly).
1,324 [NERO] TTK_Aegis Members 3,630 posts Report post #7 Posted December 19, 2017 (edited) Important tip to get what you want if you're going for premiums! DO NOT buy all your crates at once. What is in your crate is determined when you buy it, not when you open it. What premiums can be in each crate is based off of what premiums you own /when you buy/ the crate and will not change as you open it. Therefore, if you buy 100 crates, and you don't have, say, Mutsu, you could get 50 Mutsus and nothing else (KanColle LSC joke there for any who play). However, if you buy 10 or 20, open those, and then buy 10 or 20 more, there will be zero chance of duplicating the premiums you got in the first batch with the second. So the maximize your chance of that rare premium, buy in small batches and open all of them BEFORE you buy the next batch! 348 [5IN] bassmasta76 Members 2,109 posts 10,709 battles Report post #11 Posted December 19, 2017 (edited) I plan on dumping some $$ into Santa Crates... depending on how they turn out. I saw something that looked different than last year's $1 $3 and $5 crates, with nationalities instead of just flat santa crates. Maybe it was on the EU forum or site? It disappeared quickly so must have been an "oops". Regardless of how it turns out, there aren't any current Premium ships that I really want that badly to drop a ton of cash, but I could always use more camo and flags. Dragon flags specifically are what I really want... and some premium time. Though, I wont complain about anything that I get... Good luck to all of you who end up participating in whatever they do end up offering. <edit> I found my notes from last year... I ended up spending $265 over the course of the event... and on my last purchase I was graced by RNGesus with my treasured Nikolai. We'll see what comes tomorrow. b Edited December 19, 2017 by bassmasta76

On the tanks side, they are "bundling crates," so that if you buy them in larger denomination blocks, you get "more" for your money. However, from looking over the comments on the boards over there anecdotally (no scientific analysis here!), quite a few folks who just bought the 3 pack of crates for "no discount" got premiums (Type 59, etc) dropped while those who bought a big block for $75 in one shot did not. I bought a $20 block of crates (11 in total I think) and did not get a tank, but did well on silver, gold, and decorations for the garage that provide nice bonuses and permanent tank discounts that you can lock in (one at each tier). Oh they're definitely more chances for your money, but the way they determine the content on purchase instead of on open means you have better odds of getting the rare premiums by not buying in huge batches, since the ones you get in each small batch are taken off the loot table (no duplicates allowed) for the next batch you buy, raising your odds that the next premium will be the one you want. I can say for sure this is how it works because I've experienced it both last year and this year with the Halloween crates. For example, last Christmas the only premiums I didn't have for Gremy and Nik. I thought the odds would be pretty low to get them so I bought a big bundle of crates.... and got about 6 each and only those because they were the only possible results for premiums at the time of purchase. I'm sticking with that theory, too, until proven otherwise. If you just want more camos, flags, doubloons, etc, then it's probably better to buy the bigger "bargain" packs of crates once you have the ship(s) you want.
