Hello all, as you now may as well know if you've watch the news in the last 24 hours here in Washington State we had a catastrophic Amtrak Train derailment.  If you are wondering here are some of the figures from local news media. At least 3 people were killed in the accident, 10 were seriously injured, 72 were evaluated, 19 were uninjured. NTSB is right now that I'm aware of currently on the ground doing their investigation of the site.  I-5 is shut down going south from the Tacoma area.

Being glued to the news even still not even 24 hours all of us near the area of the crash site are still trying to understand it all.  I have a feeling it will be some time before we know the full extent of exactly what happened with that incident.  But please keep those families in your thoughts and prayers as well as all of those first responders that were on the scene of this horrific accident that happened yesterday morning.

That it was going entirely too fast.  80MPH in a 30MPH track.

I've done a lot of dangerous things in my life but even I'd be leery of riding on an Amtrak train. Those things have a horrendous record for safety.

The National Transportation Safety Board last month decried the safety culture of Amtrak in its report into an April 2016 derailment in Chester, Pennsylvania, that killed two track workers and injured another 39 people. In a statement Nov. 14, the NTSB cited a "deficient safety management across many levels of Amtrak."
