It's almost certainly due to the carriers and the early morning hour. if you dropped in immediately, the other CV was likely waiting in the queue for a long time and the instant you showed up, it could form a team with a CV on each side, even if it was 2v2, and there you go. This is in about 3/4 of times the case if you end in a match with less then 6 players per team.
