Looks like santa crates are back bois!

The latest Dev diary has pretty much all but confirmed the return of santa crates people!

Now with added Dasha spicyness. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

 

What are we hoping to find this year? 

Lest we succomb to the curse of the loot crate. 

 

Personally i'm hoping for Sharnhorst but anything else useful will suffice.

 

Ps: Do you think they'll be priced the same? Will they be buyable with dubloons? Discuss if you wish.

I haven't been playing for a full year yet, but I hear constant mention of the crates.  Would someone be willing to describe how they worked last year?

The biggest draw was that they had a random chance to reward any premium in the game, Gremy and Nikolai included.

The crates also had dragon flags, premium time, camos....   and I got a premium ship once every 4 or 5 crates...

Was news when I posted it a few days ago 

Container will come with the new patch this week.

PTS gave you for every part of the collection you finished a small Christmas container for free. Let’s hope they do that too on the live server.

Basically, there were 1, 3, 5$ crates. They could drop ships, premium time, gold, camos, flags, credits. $-wise, they were an amazing deal, especially if you wanted gold. I got triplicate Atlantas, duplicate Kutuzov's and some other dup ships. That is a lot of gold. For me, I basically paid for the gold, and got a pile of ships, camos, flags, and credits for free. And 90 days of premium time too.

That would be one helluva way to re-introduce the KitKat. And they'd make a boatload of money, too!

Sadly, I doubt they'll do that, not until they wake up and remove FF from their games.

I got so much gold and ten point captains from them last year, got Nikolai like 9 times in a row so that gave me 8 10 point captains plus the value of Nikolai x 8. got over 3 years of premium x3 360 plus a few 90 day ones. ended up with like 100k in doubloons from all the ship duplicates because the only ship i didn't have was Nikolai and a bunch of 10 point captains from Niko, Emdens and Ikazuchi's i kept getting. was slightly disappointed i didn't get a single American captain though.

Ok, here's a way that they could introduce the Kitikami into the game without removing friendly fire.  Arm it with super-special DWT's that only hit enemy ships, but magically went below friendlies!!!

The only real difference was in the relative value of prize you were "likely" to get. It was technically possible to get the highest-tier stuff in the $1 crates, but statistically more likely in the $3 and $5 ones.

I do believe that's called "Operations". Or at the very least, no friendly-fire kills occur. (I wish I had known that during the Halloween matches, as I would have been much more liberal with both my torpedoes and my gunfire.

For the santa crate even last year, there were some significant differences between the 1, 3, and 5 dollar crates.

you can find some sub-par 100+ box opening science here (that was correlated with other people's box popping posts.)
 

NOW, that's assuming they haven't tweaked the old formula (much.)

Before everyone begins salivating, I would be shocked to see the 2017 version to be as generous as last years.  Be prepared for camo and flags, will see if free exp thrown in there, reduced chance on premium time and also on ships and doubloons.  Loved last years, spent a bit of coin, but got a lot out of if.  Think this years results to be a lot more subdued

Found I could 'direct' Santa to give me ships from the nation I played the whole day earlier.

US ships:  Play onlyl US ships for a day.  After the Server dumps around 5-6AM, buy a few crates - and viola..  US Premium ships.

It's like telling Santa what you want without that awkward lap thing.

I hope this is true, I missed out last year, I’ll spend 30-50 bucks this year, do you think that’s enough 3 dollar crates to get some nice premiums (I don’t have very many).

Exactly!  $3. dollar ones last year were by far the best value and had the highest return, $1. were meh, $5. were a total disappointment, at least for what I got from them.

It has been suggested in other threads about this that perhaps the best way to make a measurement of which is best is to wait and see what others are posting about what they got in theirs before making your purchase....no telling how WG is going to have them set up this year.  Good luck to everyone!  Hopefully you will all get what you are looking for in your Santa box.

If they follow the 2016 pattern - Santa’s crates should be available concurrent w/ the 6.15 drop -  currently likely on Wed, Dec 20 in NA.  You should see a website announcement on Tue (I.e. day before) on 6.15 which announces server downtime for the update.
