Help with Natural Selection

I may be missing something here, or just being dumb as always, but these were my results in an Operation and I should have gotten Natural Selection

I destroyed 8 ships total (only 3 were cruisers, which is what I played)

The cruisers you killed didn't count as those 8 ships must be of any other type but the type of your ship (in your case, a combination of CVs, DDs, BBs, and other scenario ships (like utility ships)). Plus you have to win the operation.

Destroy 4 ships of the same type as your ship or 8 ships of any other type. Successfully complete the operation. Can be obtained once per battle per player.
