Best team play I have seen in a long time..

Not sure about you guys, but the last two days I have had the very fortunate experience of playing on some really good teams.  Granted I have seen some rolls over on the reds that probably didn't think so, so may I was just lucky.   All I know is that is has been a fun filled time lately and I am hoping the impending weekend doesn't change it up too much.  Sure is nice to get out and do my job knowing that I have a team with me doing theirs.  Probably racked up more close Q badges in the last two days than in the last 3 weeks.  Had a few fails in there.  But the "Feast or Famine" running in the GK has been a LOT more FEAST than FAMINE lately..and that is a direct reflection of the guys around me.  o7 Anyone that has been  around.  It has been a fun run.

Well I'm glad for you. I have been playing for over 3 years and I find the opposite. To many people think they are heroes and that they can play by themselves. For the last 10 games, my team has lost cause  no one stuck together long enough to to kill the enemy. I always tell the team where I'd like to go and most say that they are going there to and when someone gets hit by a round they turn and run. It didn't matter what tier I was playing. The other team would pick a target and fire on it until  it was sunk.  I can't understand why I seem to get on teams like this. Then the match ups are not fare cause  I am ranked 12th from my last ranked battle. I may have had 3 others that where ranked also. But my enemies team all but one was ranked and that sucked. So I'm very frustrated with the game in general. But I am happy for you, but the worm may change for you also and you will see the other side of the coin.

 Some teams, I unfortunately wouldn't even call teams.  They mostly lemming train to one spot or they simply just sit in the back of the map trying to be snipers in the game.  That's no fun at all.  What happened to the days of fun where players would actually brawl with battleships which was probably the intent of this game.  Unfortunately I've actually seen a lack in team game play unfortunately.  At least you've had luck OP.

Nice. I've had some pretty decent teams as well. It's nice when people think about what they're doing.

WG has introduced a large number of ships that are not brawlers. The only way to play them and survive is hide in the back/kite away. You can't dodge at brawling ranges. Then there is the smoke meta that inhibits moving up as you are pounded by invisible opponents and swarms of torps. The DDs hold back since pressing up without support is a death sentence. The remaining brawlers then have a choice to press forward alone or stay back and snipe. Seems most will choose the latter.

There are a lot of unicum players out there who do not participate in ranked play.  There are many subpar rank 5 to rank 1 players.  Ranked players is a bad way to judge your team.  That said, a rank 1 with a Typhoon clan tag might be a better metric, although that has become more watered down as the season has gone on.  For me, crappy players sometimes get consistently clumped together on my team, which leads to embarassing defeat.

Well, they are called "Randoms" after all.  Sometimes good players, sometimes bad.

Sadly, those good matches with quality team play are becoming fewer and fewer.  Adding WoWs to steam, while good for adding more players, has seemingly diluted the player pool.  

 

Kudos to any player who is in the red but tries hard, wants to learn and improve their skills.  

Unfortunately, the "don't scratch my paint crowd" is increasing dramatically.  Maybe they don't understand that the cost to play a match is fixed from the start, so if you live or die, you pay the same (except the cost of shooting). 

Or maybe they just expect to get carried and take their meager rewards be it a win or loss and move to the next match.

Sometimes it's really hard to hold back and keep your mouth shut when bad matches happen.  

Personally, my NaCl levels are increasing, but this game has me hook, line and sinker.  When I try to pull back, it reels me in further.  

Just gotta roll with the punches and ship on.

Yeah man I hear ya.  I have been at it awhile myself.  Maybe I have just been lucky lately in my "draw".   I can totally relate to what your game play has been though.  That has certainly been my experience for awhile also.    I was hoping something changed.  lol.

Ranked "rankings" are a joke.  Case in point I played in a game about a year or so ago that had a Div with 3 Blacks in it.  So obviously they all ranked out enough times to earn them.   They all 3 got rolled out in the first few minutes of the game and the over all game ended in a roll for us.

 I've been trying to break 50% win rate and I get real close and then  the rug is pulled out from me cause no one will play as a team. The way the teams I'm on play like a bunch of monkeys trying to hump a door knob. You can try to encourage them to play as a team but it goes through one ear and out the other. I will give you an example, one of the games I was playing this player kept running into me or would be so close I couldn't fire case I would hit him with my rounds. I asked the guy if his whole purpose was to get in my way or what.  I would slow down he would to.  I don't understand his tactics. The only thing it did was get me killed. Between him  and the non team playing , we got  em barest.

I totally agree with this I play the Scharnhorst or Bismarck  both are brawlers and I'm just getting destroyed yesterday I lost 7 games in a row the night before 6 out of 8 on top of that I'm not doing any damage because I'm always getting sunk early . I used to be able to go in the cap and help out but now no one seems to be capping anymore seems like there is more interest in sinking ships than capping and everyone sits in smoke or behind islands and pummels you I wait for the smoke to run out but its two three ships taking turns smoking up they can play the whole game in there I cant get close enough to get torps into the smoke without getting sunk . DDs and Cruisers are now staying away and just snipping at u and setting u on fire and I can't blame them it works well and there hard to hit with a BB . I'm really lost not sure how to play as things have changed a bit in last few months at one point I got to 51% win rate and my damage was getting so much better . Now I have really lost my confidence cant figure this out I need help videos are good and I watch them but things never seem to work out live like in those videos when every one is shooting at you there's a lot to remember and my worst enemy is I'm impatient no good in this game any way sorry for whining but Sabots post just made me feel like maybe I wasn't crazy  . I know I have asked for advice before but feel free to say anything I have thick skin and I'm tired of losing and playing poorly . I usually play by feel and try to follow the instructions that are being chatted out I'm not good with all the numbers and ranges that so many of you are but is it possible to still play well and contribute ???

Clam you do need help.  Video won't do it.  Now, are you running Sharn or Bis?  Because they are two very different ships.  I can't help you with Sharn.  But Bis..  First, are you secondary spec?  Next.. get up and park yourself where the enemy is coming in.  Then just drop bombs on them all day while they come.  9 times out of ten they run away.  You are doing something very very wrong here.  I think you might be a little over zealous.   There is a fine line between running in and running in stupid. I am still learning it myself.  I applaud your desire to get in there..  Just pick your spots.

I'm running the scharn  mostly a 19 point capt all the right mods the funny thing is I have great games and then I just suck . I'm for sure being too over zealous I am constantly caught out alone and being killed by focus fire but a lot of times I go in with team I'm fighting I look around and everyone is gone its very hard to know who to listen too and who u can trust when its 11 different people each time u play had some really bad teams lately too but most of it is me . I'm having mucho trouble like u said with that fine line between going in or waiting a bit it's hard after work u have a few drinks and u think ur superman  . Thanks though .

In the games I play with any BB if you stop behind an Island of stop for any reason 9 chances out of ten you'll be torped by a DD or a CV"s planes. The Bismark is a brawler and at at 10 or 12 kilometers away the Bismark"s big guns  are not very accurate.  At 12 kilometers my secondaries kick in and I can choose what ship to aim them at. My primary big guns can pick a different target.  But your only as good as the rest of the team your on. If you can battle a BB or cruiser 1 on 1 you will sink the other ship but if you are battling a cruiser and a BB together and ducking planes winning the battle is very slim.

If I wasn't in a test ship I would post a screen shot where I came in second to last on my team in base XP with 1340 and last on team had 1200. Talk about a complete team effort and rewards. That was the best random group I have ever been a part of when it came to XP.

Team play, see it occasionally and am surprised when it happens. Always fun though when it does.  I usually main DD's and Cruisers and being a DD captain these days is challenging.  Usually start of the game, it's "PLAN?"  someone indicates A/B or some such.. or absolutely nothing at all, and being the dutiful DD captain I head off to scout / cap the specified zone or the one I think we should go to and would you believe it I get there, start capping and oh my gosh the other team shows up? amazing right?  and poof everybody is gone to some other cap and there I am left hanging in my DD trying to survive at this point.  You all know this feeling if you play DD's.

At the lower tiers is usually not as catastrophic as it is in the higher tiers.. like taking my Benson out which usually is low tier or close to it.  Nothing like ending up in a cap by yourself with RED Gearing, Khab and a fletcher all right there in your face. 

I much prefer standard battles these days, no expectation of having to put my butt out in front, except to scout.. 

When team play does happen I try to compliment the other players that support that. I really had hoped there would be more of it in the game then there is.

Does Voice Chat even work "in the game" ?  I do have it off at the moment as I've never heard nor seen it used?
