So I went over to World of Tanks site.

It's where I started with WG.

  I was an old Avalon Hill hex player...Panzer Commander, France 1940, Blitzkrieg, Battle of the Bulge...board games that,  in the 1970's,  were mind expanding.

Pure WWII strategy with mathematical probability factored in,

World of Tanks looked like the answer to applying Panzer Commander game play with computing power and stellar video graphics... replacing a thick rule book and several multi-sided die (dice, plural).

I signed on in January, 2011.  Loved it.  Contributed.  Even became a closed Beta participant and contributor to World of Warplanes,

So impressed with this franchise, and I believe World of Warships is WG's best and class act....no question.

So, I wandered back to World of Tanks today to see if there was a freebie under-powered tier 2 tank Christmas present.

I was shocked...it is like a 1970's Midway or Bally Evel Kneval pinball game over there.

Incomprehensible holiday gimmicks to play and win meaningless holiday decorations to adorn your WoT yard with the chance of winning some piece of game modifier that is part of the melange of what it takes to statistically exert force on the battlefield.

WoT looks like a cheap street fair... [edited].  

I wanted to barf.

Please WoWs devs,  Keep it simple.  Don't turn this beautiful game into a [edited] full of Mahjong Krapp.

 yeah I mean that's why I started playing this game is it's a cool Ship Simulator game and waiting forever for this but now I have been here two years and seeing the gimmicks that they keep throwing in here it's starting to lose its flavor and it's just becoming another silly game

 

It's the gimmicks that are ruining this game for me

Was dedicated tank player, started a clan that made it to #24 for a short while, enjoyed, but what really started turning me off was toxicity got real bad, crazy amount of cheating (yeah don't need to hear about how there are not cheats in WoT, sorry your wrong and not interested in rehashing) and just too much nonsense tanks, power creep craziness, gold ammo so armor means little, and too much arcade...oh well liking ships so much that haven't touched tanks in 3 months or so, and not missing it one bit.

It is nice that WG has learned some lessons from WoT and translated  them here.

Started in WoT,  migrated to WoWS as it fit my interests better and haven't looked back. The pay2win with gold rounds etc was too obvious even then and I wasn't going to go that way. Hadn't reached the bling that the OP describes yet. Even went to the Tank Fest in England (cool Tigers), and that couldn't draw me back in. Really hoping WG doesn't follow the same path with WoWS. Still have some cash in that account. Wonder if I can transfer it over...?

I haven't played WoT for many years. I found out about this game by accident and I like it and have stuck with it much longer than I did WoT. I also heard they removed artillery and that's all I played there. I checked the Premium stores of both the other games and they're [edited]terrible. The deals on this one have room for improvement but the other two are much worse by comparison.
