Did you eat a few and leave the rest with only one bite taken out?

If I remember correctly, I think I took two.  A bit more maneuvering skill and I would have butt-combed those two as well.  Didn't really matter, I had pushed too far forward and 2/3 of the enemy fleet showed up.   It wasn't just the torps that had me focused.  Their entire team had me focused.

Unfortunately, as happens so often, my team had a similar advantage on the other flank and decided to play tit for tat when they should have been rolling the reds like the reds were rolling me.  Understanding when you have an overwhelming advantage, and knowing there is only a small window of opportunity to exploit it, is critical to winning.  Too many teams like to sit back and play an attrition game with a flank advantage.  That is a recipe for disaster when the deployments are asymmetric, the enemy has a similar flank advantage on the other flank, and is exploiting that advantage.

Torpedoes, the gift that keeps coming, and coming and coming...  Or should that be DDs the unwanted gift that keeps giving.  Nice to hear you only took 2.

Just be thankful they weren't super nice and sent you a wall of torpedoes..

I was in a game last night where.. out of no where 15 torpedoes came rushing at us .. that was fun (in a BB)

Uhhhh....I'd say 25 torps qualifies as a wall of torps.

Well ... judging from your minimap, that's why you as a BB do not fully charge into a cap without knowing where the enemy is first, assuming you had the dead team mate DD in front of you to scout too.

I know this is not "capping 101" thread, but what else would you expect lol

Well, it wasn't a full charge...more like a lateral charge with the option to turn in and push, extend laterally and stretch defend, or turn away and kite.  I use this a lot when I have a DD scouting because it allows me to surprise any red cappers as I uncover in secondary range.  This lateral positioning is designed to let me respond appropriately to the threat.  In this instance, I delayed the kite option (turn away) too late.  If I had turned a bit sooner I would have been able to execute a proper kite and delayed their flank move.

But the gist of your comment is correct.  I failed to properly assess the threat and got caught out too far forward.

It looks like your team was pushing into the cap on the other flank, though it's hard to tell from a screenshot how fast or slow they were moving. I would worry about the way they are all crowding through that narrow channel though--that's a dd's dream as a tight spread of torps couldn't miss hitting something.

I feel your pain though about getting thoroughly shellacked like that. And yes, one knows one should be more cautious, hold back and wait, let your support come up, let the other flank push them back, wait for magic fairy dust to descend from the heavens and ..... but that's boring. I like to push, too, or at least get into some position where I can do some damage. Lost my cool a bit last night with a CA driver who literally ran away at the sight of a few red ships coming our way on one flank and ended up licking the window at the edge of the map. He lived to the end of the game, of course, and got a few more points than me, who died young, but ... boring.
