Until today. Yep, that's right: Three battles, three detonations in a row in my Hipper. A detonation hat-trick in a cruiser. My ~38% win rate and ~50% more than server average damage suggests I dont know how to actually win in the Hipper. Currently, the detonations are just making my massive losing streak all the more better at the moment (won one battle from the last 14 or so - none of which were close, exept perhaps the second detonation battle where we were only about 200 points behind late battle...) I'd be raging at getting three dets in a row like that. Hipper is not a horrible ship, but it is currently a bit sub par because of it's low rate of fire and dpm. A rate of fire increase of 1 or 2 seconds should be sufficient. Otherwise, it has a lot going for it like great shell arcs, health pool, tankiness, german hydro, and really good AA for it's tier. I have noticed a good number of my detonations (usually in destroyers) occur when I am low health. So, the detonation killed me with one hit when 3 or 4 would also have done it. Just too many things out of control of the player's hand. I just detonated a full HP U.S CL yesterday(tier 7),with my cranky Yorck,shelling HE blindly at him at very edge of my range,,nothing to do with my aiming...... It has nice firepower and shell arcs and decent maneuverabilty when modded for it. It does have soft sides and in T9-10 matches LOOK OUT . I found the sneaky module payed off better than the rudder shift for staying alive. Staying at mid-distance and using some fire discipline will help you be effective longer in the match. Your gun accuracy will still be good at those ranges and less wiggle will be required. Then when necessary, go dark and slip away. They still teach percentages in school right? The second I was about 40 per cent, and died to a torp in the bow from a Martel that I epically nailed on a cap. The third I was 90 per cent, essentially full health, and 'sploded. I store them up for ranked battles. Edit: actually got detonated yesterday too, so a decent haul of flags recently :-p . Pity you don't get more flags for repeats... Funniest thing was, at the start of the third battle I announced in global chat that I had been detonated twice in two matches, so was on a hat trick.
