Upon an Ocean Blue

An original WOWS poem by Snargfargle (aka Metis in AOE III)

On an ocean free of islands, where no warship can hide

Two vast flotilla came to be, one on either side

Then ringing 'cross the the vast blue seas, where fish and whales do play

Came a voice, as from some god, "Battle starts!" to say

The stage was set, the players clothed in raiment of their choice

Some wore quite garish “camo,” in bright colors to rejoice

Most of the ships were more subdued and dressed in darker hue

But the Takao that the Snarg did sail was draped in bright ARP blue

Like time itself was torn asunder the warparties made no sense

Germans were pals of Frenchmen and fought in their defense

Whitemice swam with Pulicats and they with with Ghostdogs too

Snargfargle, whence came he none knew, perhaps from Xanadu?

The valiant allies ventured forth, their DDs in the lead

Each mother's son or daughter as a white knight on steed

The sleek, fast cruisers with the Snarg made the enemy quake in fear

And a mighty flotilla of dreadnoughts was bringing up the rear

Our destroyers spotted those of theirs, themselves still undetected

The surprise advantage of the red team being thus rejected

I and the other cruisers, concealment we did run

No DD saw that we were there, until their destruction had begun

Without their spotting DDs, the enemy was blind

So those of ours sailed closer in, no radar ships to mind

Our cruisers moved in to support, and thus begin the fray

The one-sided battle that ensued is still talked about today

The enemy's ships, as were we, were formed up rather well

But our DDs and cruisers too released a wall of skill

The red ships they then turned to flee, each revealing its broadside

Our mighty dreadnoughts fired their shells and the enemy all died

They were the finest allies that the Snarg had ever seen

And he wished he had more compliments to send to team of green

Ah, would that he could team with such heroes every day

But teams like this are very rare, and this he doth daresay

The difference between a sea story and a fairy tale is a fairy tale starts with "Once upon a time ... " and a sea story starts out "This ain't no bull ... "

Once upon a time my ship got Rekt

Because I had 4 fires burning on my deck

Dam con on cooldown wouldn't keep it check

Thus the battle for me comes to an end

Wondering why i bother to go into battle again

Once upon a time

I pounced upon a mime

And made him eat a lime

Because it was crime

To steal the children's dimes

Shamelessly bumping this because I don't think anyone was here this morning when I wrote it.

Shame.

Now what's this about sealing dimes?

There once was a ship from Nantucket...

That was rusty as an old bucket.

Let's keep it clean here.
