Damage Control Modification 1 simply increases the active period of your consumable -- the amount of time it will remove fires, stop flooding, repair your main battery guns, torpedoes, engines and steering gears.  Any attacks which would cause any of these critical effects during the active period would be automatically repaired.  Here's how it works:

  • Aircraft Carrier active period increases from 30s to 42s.
  • American Battleship active period increases from 20s to 28s.
  • Japanese Battleship active period increases from 10s to 14s.
  • All other Battleships (except Warspite) active period increases from 15s to 21s.
  • All other vessels have their active period increased from 5s to 7s.

There is a drawback. Repair Mod 1 is slotted where Main Battery Mod1 is. So, you have an increased risk of main battery/torpedo tube incapacitation/destruction.

I actually use this mod on some of my bbs. It's rare that your guns get knocked out anyways.

Depends who you meet. There are enough players that go for your main turrets if you bowtank.
