This is a compelling argument for capping DDs at three per team as I have said in the past along with capping BBs to three. I was swamped by torpedoes from the moment I was spotted.

 

Edit: Ugh, I should probably figure out how to blank out the names...

I'd call that a target rich environment for that enemy Matsuki, as long as their team's CV could keep any planes from spotting him.

Actually, the Reds got screwed with that MM. They have only 1 radar, a low tier cruiser that is basically food. Meanwhile the Green side has two good radar botes plus the murderous Minotaur to handle the DDs. On paper green has the advantage.

 

MMs like this are a good example of why WG needs to rethink the way the MM handles radar. You can't hand out I-WIN buttons like candy and then make not even a pretense of balancing them.

Yes, let's cap it that 5-6 ships, depending on if there is a CV or not, are cruisers, that hunt DD's, feed BB's, and, unless they are lower and low tier ships, basically can render a CV pointless.

 

Look, 5 DD's per side, yeah, bit extreme to sat the very least, 5 BB's, well, only time that worries me is if I'm a cruiser that's bottom tier or am particularly not good with. Cap both at 3 - just no.

Not only do I agree I'm practically drooling if I'm the CV of either team. Bogue v Bogue means most likely equal, no strafe means it's about positioning planes and tactics, Only really BB's with AA are NM, if upgraded, and Texas, and apparently I'm one of the last players that can use auto drop effectively. Oh, right, and most of those BB's are slow lumbering targets to boot. If I screw up, that's likely near a 100k game.

That's Cruiser hell right there. I doubt that any of those CLs lasted more than 5 minutes after the BBs detected them.

For the third time, it might have been if I hadn't gotten swamped by torpedoes as soon as I got spotted.

To be fair, that's your own fault. It is incredibly easy to predict torpedoe paths early game. It's in the late game where it's more difficult.

 

Anticipate what the DDs are doing.

It's easy to talk about dodging when you don't have a swarm of torpedoes from two Shimakazes and a Fletcher coming at you.

I have faced plenty in my Iowa, Missouri, Alabama, and North Carolina. Self examine and find what you could improve.

Yeah you've clearly never been in that situation. Sorry but your clueless.

 

When multiple DD's ar throwing massed torps at you in staggered volleys you'll generally be so busy worrying about where the next slavo is coming from and pre-emptive dodging that, that your gunnery will suffer both in terms of accuracy, (because you can;t focus on it), and available guns, (because ship movements are probably pointing your guns everywhere but where the enemy is). Mass torpedoes never have to score a single hit to result in significant issues for you, they ust have to keep you too busy dodging them to focus on much of anything else.

This is hell for DD's also.  You have to fight all the little fish to get to the big prize.

True that :p. Which is arguably one of the big issues with the game ATM, IMO. DD's are better at stopping other DD's than CA/CL are.
