Forking out of submarine topic :P .

What i imagine is pre-battle minefields that you deploy with one click from your prepared schemes list, if you have those rare ships with minelaying capability. Mind, that such ships had inferior stats to destroyers and would be pretty impaired during battle, so i think that it would balance itself.

Any minelaying attempt during battle is futile (i think): not enough speed, not enough time and everybody sees what you are doing.

Ship example: http://en.wikipedia....ORP_Gryf_(1936)

Besides speed, its like a destroyer, and quite heavy when it comes to comparisons. Surely there were other ships that could be added to destroyer trees of various nations. Maybe weaker, maybe some even heavier? Links, please ;) - above 1000t, which would be displacement of a small destroyer.

Mines would be easy to add, if there's a will to do it.

PS: other ships (i'll add all linked below):

Even bigger destroyer-like: http://en.wikipedia....class_minelayer

Mine cruiser: http://en.wikipedia...._cruiser_Pluton

I think the devs said no mines.
This, and i don't really see the need for minefields, as naval battles (which the devs hope to recreate) didn't really take place in or near active minefields.

I know, what devs said. It's "what you'd like" thread. That's why it's not in suggestions ;) . It's more like having fun finding a new horse to be beaten.

Mines can only be used on shallow waters anyway, so no every battle. I don't have time to dig for info now, but mines were a big threat and there were some ships sunk by them.

Mines were never used as a tactical weapon, never laid in the heat of battle, they were only used as a strategic weapon so have little place in game.

besides mine fields were used more for defense around ports and the like to thwart attackers (i do realize they were used in other situations but not the way this person is suggesting).  Personally I see no use in this game.

Most subs could carry mines and simply launch them out the torpedo tubes...

There generally weren't that many battles and anyone wanting battle on known enemy's minefield is clearly suicidal. You can use your own minefield to your advantage, though.

There were some ships lost to mines, both during WW1 and WW2.
Random example is Russian destroyer (sunk) and cruiser (badly damaged) during fleeing form Riga on German minefield.

Now.
Then it wasn't so obvious with floating mines using contact pistols. Mine needed to be anchored and put underwater.
I was referring to time period of WoWs.

Today you have intelligent mines that can hunt after ship.
