Since I'm strapped out of ideas I have decided ask you guys for some.

I want ideas for a wartime reason to sink her. Like death by torp. Or a peacetime sinking. Death by nuke for example.

So... You're given a battleship how do you sink her?

We are sinking the top one by the way.

Peacetime examples:

Scuttling (can also be done in wartime)

Sinking it for training

I'd say the usual peacetime answer seems to be "some kind of weapons/ammunitions test" or "it ran aground while being towed to scrapping".

Wartime examples:

Death by aircraft bomb hitting magazine.

Torpedo causes flooding which sinks the ship.

I feel like walking into the middle of a conversation.  Assuming this is for a creative writing task.

Assuming this is a friendly BB in a wartime situation. How about propaganda? Or perhaps the BB has been captured and needs to be scuttled. Or sunk inside a strategically critical seaway.

Peacetime? She is adrift in a storm headed for a populated harbor?  Poor fisher people with houses on stilts.  Or she is carrying some kind of toxic biological weapon and must be stopped before coastal waters?

Is that what you were thinking of? Or did I, in a turkey coma, wonder into a dream forum where the usual questions do not apply?

Did you mean reasons or methods?

I'm on mobile currently so i can't write as much as I want. But yes it's for a AU history I'm writing.

I'm using this to see if you guys can think up of some ideas that could sink the battleship provided. I've hit a writing block kappa.

Well in between the WWs many captured prize ships were used as targets to test the brand new technology of air dropped bombs and torpedoes. After WWII some were used as nuke catchers. The G. Spee got scuttled even though she had only minor damage. The Bismarck took quite the pounding before going under while the Hood went kablooie just like the ships do in the game.

Many different ways of getting rid of a BB.:Smile_child:

I kinda want to have her go missing in a storm but its not like a 200m+ Battleship can just vanish in a storm with out a trace :3

A lot of ships are cleaned of all their bunker oil and other hazardous materials then towed to sea and sunk to create artificial reefs. It's amazing how structure attracts sea life.  You can swim for a hundred yards over a mud flat while scuba diving and see nothing. Then you run into one sunken tree branch that washed out from shore and it will have 20 fish around it.

Hurricane?

Ridiculous sized waves?

Mistook rocks for enemy ships and scuttled?

In 1898, during the Spanish–American War, American warships had opened fire on ocean swells, trains on land, and rocks along the coastline, taking them for Spanish torpedo boats.

It technically has inspiration from real life too

*sees post*

Oh, this

This will be fun

*Insert generic Joker laugh here*

Alright, so this could be either peace time or war.

But a series of explosives put into almost each and every room on the ship and with a push of a button, they go off in sequence. Like the ship explodes from the inside out, section by section. Just imagine the carnage wrought on the ships beside it as chunks of steel and unexploded ammunition go flying into them and the surrounding land.

*Insert another generic Joker-esce laugh here*

Yes, I may be crazy, why do you ask?

Well given the fact that the main character in my Kancolle story is pretty much destroyed psycologically at this point in my writings, "mad" may not be the right term. :cap_like:

Two thoughts leading to wild storytelling.

1. She vanishes in the Bermuda triangle while sailing to the gunnery ranges east of Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. Never to be found.

2. She is scuttled as the start of reefbuilding off Cape Hatteras. Turns her wartime destruction into peaceful rebuilding.
