A look at QE AA

I've posted several times on how crazy the QE AA is when fully spec'd out (including November Echo).  The QE, off the rails, has the best AA of all T6 BB.  If you fully air spec her, she can be devastating to CV captains who are not aware of what she can do.  I'll start with a bottom line.  If a designated squadron flies over a fully AA spec'd QE, it is subject to just short of 500 (five hundred) DPS.  Yes...500.

While that is indeed massive, the real value is in those 20 four inch AA cannons.  They reach out to 7.2km.  And being at least 80mm, can take advantage of MFCAA to the tune of putting out 235 DPS.  That's a lot of DPS and a big AA bubble.  So even squadrons that fly through the bubble, but not over the QE itself, can take several hits along the way.

For the sake of argument, let's say the squadron is bearing down on the QE.  When the squadron hits 7.2km, it immediately enters a 235 DPS bubble.  When it gets to 3.6km, it goes to 370 DPS.  And at 2.9km, the full whopping "just shy of" 500 DPS.

She's a beauty.

The only issue with specing a captain for that means it's really only going to be useful on QE and Hood. Which if you have Hood isn't that bad but once you hit KGV and up most people want all the other survivability captain skills for surviving when you get focused.

Having a Warspite, means I do not have to suffer through all the weakness of a QE.

LoL, funny you make that point because that's exactly what I do.  I bounce the QE captain back and forth between the QE and the Hood.

As for KGV and above, I am working on separate captains.  I will probably leap frog 7/8 to 9/10 and re-build my 7/8.  I'm thinking Capt Dunkirk, currently on the KGV, is a good match for the Conq...

A full AA spec QE is marvellous fun for both PvP and operations, esp when trolling Cleveland team mates by getting all the plane kills. :Smile_honoring:

Those 4.5" 'Between Deck' mounts are almost impossible to knock out, they might be the most reliable DP mount in the game? Can't wait for Renown (with a 5km+ secondary range please)

Alexandria camo is a must if you've got a dedicated captain.

Warspite + Secondary Battery Mod 2 = Brawling fun times.

Kaga/Siapan heavy meta? Time to dust off the ultimate troll ship.

As someone with many battles in Warspite, I'm left wondering just what all weakness is being referred to on QE...

She has thin armor for a BB, even bow-in, but that's about it along with MB rotation.

Warspite and Hood removed all desire for me to grind that joke of a line...they are all I need for mass colonization.

Pretty much this, the 5.25in has such woeful AA stats on the KGV, Lion and Conq that it's entirely not worth an AA build.

I didn't want to spend a ton of elite XP to re-spec my captain for QE and back. QE is a paywall, and doesn't fit the line that well - WG should probably make her a FXP premium... (oh wait, that's Nelson sorry).

I'm also confused by all the QE AA hype, Bayern has more DPS in her long range battery unless I'm very much mistaken. QE may have some DPS in her short-ranged and HE-vulnerable pom-poms but yay? Bayern also leads to Gneisenau which gets a ridiculous long range AA aura, and at least skills like AFT are well worth it on Bismarck and up.

Turrets for sure, but slow speed? QE and Warspite are the same speed and both are about average for a t6 BB.

Warspite is a buffed QE.  Why play QE  when you have Warspite?

Besides tier 7 is much more fun.

Can you buff Warspite to just as strong AA?

No.

Warspite only has 8 102mm at 37.6 DPS, whereas QE has 20 114mm at 89 DPS.  The difference just gets that much bigger as you spec them up.

Then I could see why you would keep her.

Thank you.
