Decreasing Fire and Flood Damage

Is it true that if your ship is on fire or is flooding that you can stop your ship or come to a halt so that the fire and flooding damage will also be slowed?  It only makes sense, and I would like a confirmation to this if this is a fact in the game.

Nope. Flooding does slow your ship down I believe (?)

No it doesn't.

It used to be a rumor passed around by people due to confirmation bias because it felt like it was doing less. This can be easily checked using training room to verify that it is indeed false.

Sorry Op but after the 5600+ battles you have you don't know that isn't true? Flooding slows your ship to 75% of max speed if not stopped. Fires have recently (0.6.13) been reduced in duration to 30 seconds on most ships. But fires and flooding are not reduced by slowing down.

It does, but slowing down your ship does not affect damage rate from flooding.

I don know how many players believe this but quite a long time ago a random player I was in a division with told me the same thing when I was flooding.

I knew it couldn't be true but I entertained the player anyway and slowed down because it would be a useless argument. Besides It didn't hinder me in any way.

I don't know if this was ever the case during CBT or something (wasn't there), but at this point it is a somewhat persistent myth that was even debated seriously on the Warships Podcast once - so we really should give the OP a break on this one.

See also the idea that HE pens have a greater fire chance than HE non-pens.  Also, apparently, not true, but also believed by many players.

LoL I never knew flooding slows you down. Then again, I'm the server's biggest scaredycat and shoot from max range so I see a flood maybe once in every 50 games or so.

It’s not a legitimate question from someone with your number of battles played.

It matters that you've played over 5k games, and learned nothing......

Your life, your choice, but don't come to the forums and expect everyone to agree with you, or even understand why you'd spend that much time playing a game, and still not understand how it works.....:Smile_teethhappy:

Oh come on, half the people with 5000+ battles around here still can't even tell the difference between a torpedo and a pot roast...

Geez, what a "friendly" environment where anyone can come to ask a question, make discussions and not get mocked.  No wonder less than 10% of the player base comes to these forums.

BTW, basic physics dictates that reducing speeding or coming to a stop will decrease flooding and definitely fire.  What are you more apt to do if you were lit on fire to lesson the damage?  Run around and feed the flames or stop?  I don't get flooded that often to notice the speed nerf or if the flooding slows when stopped, as I usually get blown up by torpedoes.  I get lit on fire quite often, but I am usually in situation where I can't come to a stop, and if I did, I am too busy take note of damage being done.  I don't have time for that.  And, I am quite sure most are unaware just like me.  More "elitist" condescension [edited] on the forums as usual.  It is my fault for expecting anything else from those on their "high horse" that usually frequent this forum.  The next step would be to start the stat shaming.....

No to flooding. As a dd, i already have only an 8-10% chance to hit anything. My chance of citadeling you is nothing and you can dc out.

Think of flooding as that extra incentive not to travel in a straight line. Dont even begin to cite carriers. Your problem there is manual drops in the first place, on top of the nuke and flooding.

Everybody knows reddit is the official forum anyway.
