If I hear, "Well I got 'X' damage as an excuse for a team losing one more time..  I am going to lose my stuffing.   I have played 3 games tonight. 3 good games that were winnable with good teams.  All 3 ended in losses due to "people' that decided that damage was more important.  Actually I will retract as the last one was a result of my team lemming training to an island and hiding until we pretty much lost all hope and then coming out.  But even THAT was winnable.  Damage farming is the cancer in the game that needs to stop.  I get it.  The game meta supports it to some respect.  But watching 2 players throw away wins that an entire team fought hard for and then making the excuse..  "Well I got 'X' damage" just makes me want to..  well...

Tonight, 1W then 3L (& in 1 of those Ls, I had 3 kills in my CV, so go figure that 1), then I quit. I'm not going to tolerate crap gaming sessions anymore.

Players say "Well, at least I got xxx,xxx damage"

because it sounds better than "If I weren't such a dumptruck and could only have carried harder we might have won!"

Since damage is one of the main drivers of the game grind....why does this surprise you? 

Blame WG for creating a game that is a massive grind, and rewards individual performance for the grind over team play.....since you can't count on the team....:Smile_teethhappy:

Up to 6 games with one scrape out win..  add 2 more losses to the damage farmer total.  This is just getting stupid.   I am not potatoing these games.   Busting out running 2 caps.  Got a double strike in my last game.   I am running on some really good teams with some respectable play.  It just flames out in the end. Always the same things..  2 to 3 green ships just sailing around in the back watching the game go away to the reds......ohhh hey.  At least I am getting some damage here...

loss.. 1000 to 100...  guy was bragging up his High Caliber,  Seriously.  I have been on a roll with being nice in chat... it was sort of a new years resolution for me.   I am getting some sort of ban tonight..

You can flip a coin 10 times in a row and it will not land on the same side 10 times.

Most of these battles had Cvs and we had the 30-40% while the other team had the 54% and up, the rest of the team was not much better with 30-45% with only me or one other above 50%.

After each battle i checked matchmaking monitor and i was on the potato side every match.

Lost three in a row last night myself.   Playing Cleveland a lot lately again and having a good streak of wins, till last night.  Same scenario every match...   DDs and I move up ahead of one or two BBs on our side of the map.  formations look good for in depth offense/defense  then when I or one of the DDs makes first contact, the BBs slow way down or turn around, coupled with complete potato players driving our CVs = crushing defeat.

I play BBs a LOT and I don't understand this behavior.

They did actually increase the rewards for team play not too long ago.

 

The problem is, most aspects of team play are still either one-time things or something that only one person gains benefit from.

You are 100% correct.   Damage farmers are THE #1 issue with this game.

 

WG needs to change the reward system so damage farming is not rewarded.  A while ago I posted a way to do that.  They can use that system, or something else, but they need to do something.

Only time I go for damage farming is when the match is already lost and there isn't jack I can do.

Statistically, there is a chance of this occurring and it is 0.5^10 or 0.0009765625. In another way of saying it, you are likely to see this happen once in about a thousand tries. It took me 76 tries to get all but one the same, but then I got tired of the game.

At least the said players who "damage farmed" shot their guns, and contributed. 

Yesterday, our side had a Zao that literally just circumnavigated the map edges the whole game. Quite literally, hitting all the 3 corners of the map edges only to be the last ship alive. Not having any engagements until the very end (was finally spotted). I thought maybe it was some guy who wanted to achieve a certain campaign task or something. 

But no. With over 8 enemy ships in play (just not possible vs combination of BBs, CLs, DDs.). 

After the game ended, I checked the roster list. Guess what, Zao player ranked out yet trolled us the whole game. Why? 

F***ing hate that guy.

 

Too bad we can't name and shame here.

Me (Giulio Cesare) and a Friend (Texas) were torp'd by a Nicholas, he popped out at close range by himself no help to finish the two of us off.  He dropped torps into me and my friend.  I killed him.  He went on about the damage he had done.  I just ignored him.  My partner decided to let him know it wasn't over yet.  Yeah the dead DD was acting like they had the game won, and had someone been there to help the DD they probably would have as me and my partner killed off 5 of them including the Nicholas driver.  Help for the DD would have probably finished the 2 of us off.  I burned all my heals getting back about to about 50% health, same for my partner.  After the match DD decided he had to try and have the last word and said he would have had as much exp as we had gotten had he won, and that is true too.  Partner reminded him, that not getting at least 1 of us and getting killed the way he did is what probably cost them the game, but the guy would not stop.  Short end my partner blacklisted him. 

 

But damage means nothing without finishing enough people off to get the win.  Heck I can farm 160-180k in damage in the Conqueror, but it means nothing if I don't kill at least 2 and the team wins.

Maybe it was the same player we had that just sailed around in a circle in our cap, never contributed to the match until he was spotted, even then didn't last long.  I wondered at the time if he was a bot.

Well yes but the probability is too small to worry about, unlike having the potato team 10 times or more in a row which should have the same probability but does not.

I don't think the guy who got High Caliber in a 1000-100 loss is the person on your team who should be blamed for the loss.

I've always maintained that damage is an epeen stat that may or may not win games. Damage is fun, but kills and caps matter. SECURE THOSE KILLS. A BB at 10% hp can erase you just as easily as one at full health. A mostly dead DD can still ninja caps. KILL THEM ALL or all the damage in the world is useless.
