Today was in my She no know me... there were a pair of division'ed Clevelands at 10 and 12 km. The CLOSEST red ship was 8 km. There were no aircraft. I was not spotted. Yet those reds knew exactly where I was at all times for at least 30 seconds. I've play over 10K games so yea I know spotting mechanics. THBOMK, they should not have known where I was nor should they have been able to fire on me. No RDF, no Radar, no Hydro, no Planes and nobody any closer than 8 km. I was not spotted.

Call it luck if you want - but it seemed a bit too much for it to be luck. tiafyc

Been in my Tier 7 IJN DD. I have everything stealth. I have noticed being not detected and not located, outside my detection zone and being hit. No other friendly ships near me but yet I get hit. I have also seen it when I disengage the enemy, get outside the detection range and I am still being hit while I am zig zagging away.  Is there a mod for this? I don't know. Does not happen enough to piss me off, but I am sure there are people who use every cheat they can get away with.

There does seem to have been some sort of bug (feature) that would cause a person to appear spotted for a few seconds even when hidden and with nothing actually spotting. - but Doc's right, put up the replay so it can be dissected, analyzed, and combed for details.

I think detection along with Priority Target are bugged. I have simply been detected with no one looking at be and hadn't been for long enough that all shots from when I was being targeted would have hit or missed and several ships have been firing at me.

I have experienced chain firing the turrets on the Cleveland in the area a ship had just disappeared and being rewarded with hits. I would continue to fire until I no longer got any hits. With the reload time and the detection range of the Cleveland, there is no real penalty for doing this.

The reload time on the Cleveland makes it the best CA/CL in the line to prosecute destroyers. So, when I have the opportunity, I will take the improbable shot.

Also, a Cleveland could shoot while you are spotted, and five seconds after you are unspotted, the shells arrive and a second volley is on the way to the general area, with greater dispersion to land some lucky hits.

A single volley from a single ship is luck. However when it is multiple volleys from multiple ships something else is happening. I am going to start saving my replays when this happens to see if there is something to this or just confirmation bias.

Maybe they fired salvoes just as you were stealthing up, and those shots still need time to get to you after visual contact was lost.Besides, they can still anticipate where you might be for the next salvo even after you stealthed up, and fire again at that location.  They may land close or even hit.  Some of us do it all the time.

Besides, we're talking about a pair of Clevelands versus a Shinonome here.  Consider the sheer volume of fire from two of these ships and the chances of actually getting a hit on someone after they stealthed up.

Just because you went dark doesn't mean they will just instantly give up.  If they're good, experienced players, they know what they are doing and will try to hunt you down and kill you, seen or not.

At any rate, a reply would be more useful for this discussion.

With the Cleveland's high-arcing fire I can routinely hit ships when either I or they or both of us are behind islands so that they have neither detected me nor have I them. The only reason that I know where they are is that I keep hitting them.

Back in alpha/closed beta when situational awareness was a captains skill there was a period when it was bugged and people were taking accurate fire before it had triggered. I wonder if that has returned?

I think there might be a glitch.  Had it happen as well, not spotted and yet taking fire.  As a BB main I watch it, especially with priority target (very helpful for that BB which is quickly targeted by a DD for a torp attack).  I've had several times where nothing, and suddenly I'm taking fire.  So, either a glitch, or some hack, is my guess.

I highly doubt it is a hack and more likely it is a glitch.

I added hack to cover all bases, but I do think its more likely a glitch.  But how to figure out when and why it happens could be difficult.

Were you in smoke?

I've derped off rounds into a random smoke cloud with a BB and sometimes hit something.

Why does anyone with so much experience expect us to know all the answers without providing a replay.

I do this as well.   Got my shot lined up and the red ship goes dark.    I'll stay in binocular view and while the ship can be hidden, you can see if shells hit.    Anticipate they were running at the same speed and turning away slightly, and let loose.  Same with the British CAs that are slowing to a crawl to hit smoke.  If they go dark, look for any impacts, and aim behind (since once they smoke, they usually reverse into the bulk of the cloud).

I'm ashamed to say it's the worst bit of DD game play you'll ever see. Plus too heh heh - I failed miserably in the match. Also graphics are horrible (I run 50% reduction). All in all bad replay.I did get a bit salty in it too...

I watched it - and I think it must be lucky shots... they happen early on, somewhere around 17 minutes or so. Strange thing is during the game, I thought they hit me hard. Replay doesn't show it that way. My theory originally was perhaps the spotting mechanics might be off a tad.. in range reported. I dunno.

By the third time I looked at it I'm thinking definitely OMS (Old Man Syndrome). You agree? 20171114_092326_PJSD706-Shinonome_20_NE_two_brothers.wowsreplay

[btw - replay, for me, is horrible - not a single "transport" control works. Used to - but not these days.]

You know she'll take awhile to get to the target right? This happens all the time in DD's when you go undetected some guy who fired at you from 17KM shells finally land even though the guy closest who you thought was the only one firing at you has ceased fire at a lesser range. Maddening yes but a cheat? Not even close.

In addition to this, if they are firing HE shells they don't even have to land a hit to 'hit' you, since each shell has a splash damage radius.
