Post ideas of mechanics that could be implemented but would be a stupid idea.

 

I'll start with mine: Shooting a carrier with planes landed should be able to destroy the squadrons while refueling.

AA guns (Bofors, Oerlikons, etc.) should fire at enemy ships when they're in range and should be able to set fires and knock out enemy AA guns and secondaries.

A fire that burns for too long around torpedo tubes causes them to detonate. (RIP Derpitz and Scharn)

Catasthrophic engine damage

Rudder destruction

Consumables (Damage Control, Repair, Sonar, Radar, etc...) incapacitation

Dive bomber dropping into ship's funnel

Intense, unextinguishable blaze; DB Incendiary bombs

Carrier runway damage

Instagib (hit a part hard enough and it snaps out of the ship)

Torpedoes can clash underwater if their path coincide

Type3 shell that can be aimed at aircraft, kind of like strafe, and deals 10,000dps.

Out of your control: Fallen planes do damage to you if they manage to fall on you. 

 

In your control: Allow DDs to swap torpedoes with naval mines.

Severe Weather (50-60ft swells) that can knock stored shell, torpedoes, and depth charges off their racks, causing an explosion at the respective location of the ship

Addition of a secondary/AA gunner targeting mode that's controlled by another player on your ship.  IE one ship, 2 people.  1 controls main battery and navigation.  Other has the aim view like the main battery but it controls AA guns and Secondary guns.
